You should look into applying for a government education grant. I was able to get my 737 type that way.
Wow, welfare for pilots!!!!

With the insulting wages they are paying us these days that is about what it has come to. We haven't seen an increase in pay or QOL in the last 20 years, if employers would simply give us a well deserved raise we most likely wouldn't be having this discussion.

Oh yea, I forgot. We might have had an across the board raise but a bunch of eleventeen year old wonder sticks are out there paying for training and flying shiny little jets for a fraction of what anyone with a little self respect would fly for.

:cool:K&S now has an internet course for the systems portion of the rating. You then come in for 8 days straight for your systems oral and then the simulator training. I should be getting the info from them this next week!

Higher Power also has an excellent program. I have had a lot of friends go there and love all of their training! PHX just works out better "logistically" for myself! Good Luck!

K&s

I did my type at K&S last September. Mike did my ride and is a great guy. Good to hear that he owns the place now. The instructors are very knowledgeable. The office people were helpful also especially with the VA paperwork.

The argument that says "If its there then take it" is rediculous. For the sake of argument lets say that the government says that its OK for people to rape your wife. I go and rape your wife and you say that's not right. Then I say "well if its there then take it". Does that make it OK?

Now you might say that comparing rape to taking someones hard earned money is obsurd. Alright, fine. Where do you draw the line? At what point does law become immoral? In the example above you say that stealing my money to pay for your type is ok while I say that raping your wife is ok. Are we both right? Is stealing ok because its "not as bad as rape"? Is stealing ok because some jerk in Washington says its ok (through taxation)?

Your example is completely out of line.....but for the sake of arguement....let's say I take your wife and mama....and put them to work for me out on the street...truck stops , etc.

Wouldn't be right...but we'd make enough money for me to get another type rating......

I'd take your wife and mama if I thought there was a market for old fat chicks or FUPA's. Maybe I could make enough money for a truck driving license.

Thats exactly why I mentioned truck stops for your wife and mama....low rent....might take a few years to make some money since it's not all the really hot ones that frequent the truck stops.

Maybe they'd do better in a border town...bring your sisters too.

To all the readers of these boards....I owe all of you an apology....I was invited into the pig sty and chose to dive in rather than walk away...and the stench is unbelieveable.

And yes, while Fly-n-Hi's comments took a disagreement and made them personal, I shouldn't have taken the bait. Of course if he had made those comments in person, no doubt we would've had a discussion about decorum, or the lack thereof.

While I do enjoy spirted debate, when one of the debaters takes it personal, thats where it crosses the line.

I called him on it...told him he was out of line....and we saw the response he gave...which was none. Obviously, that tells us what kind of a person he is.

I too crossed the line with my responses...for that I apologize.

Nice comeback. When you have to explain it that means it didn't make any sense and it sucked.

By the way. We went to a party last week and saw your wife there. She was wearing her muffin top pants and low cut top. She was standing there trying to look hot but she didn't realize that her big fat rolls where totally disgusting and her pants looked like a balloon that had been over inflated and was going to pop at any second. Being 4'9" didn't help, either.

She thought that her large breasts would attract lots of men but she didn't understand that she had large fat-woman breasts...not the large hot chick breast implant breasts. She got drunk and started flashing everbody. Half of the people there puked and then prayed that she didn't take her pants off. We wanted to approach her and let her know that skanky clothes and all the makeup in the world did not change the fact that she was fat and nasty but we didn't want to hurt her feelings (after all, its probably genetic, right?).

We saw a ring on her finger and asked her why she was there. She said that her husband was not good in bed and had a small pee-pee. In your defense I said that its hard to be good in bed when the bull is riding you. I couldn't defend your small pee-pee, though. Sorry.

There was this one football player guy at the party who'd boink anything so we dared him to go after your wife. He didn't want to do it at first but after a few more shots and the promise of a brown paper bag to put over your wife's head (and one over his head just in case hers fell off) he went for it.

He ended up having sex with her belly button and we were like "Are you serious"? He said "Yeah, it looked just like a cooch. It was all wet and had a bunch of hair around it". We said "That's nasty! Seriously, that's nasty"! He said "Doesn't matter. It felt exactly the same. Besides, she didn't complain". The rest of us said that we would never drink shots again. The good news for you is that he didn't technically have sex with your wife so she didn't technically cheat on you.

That was a funny party.

I'd have no problems saying any of this in person.

Nice try.

The comments that I made in my original reply were not aimed at you specifically. I'll admit that that my example was a bit tacky but I needed an example that was outrageous. It was completely general. "You" or Your" is all inclusive, meaning that it could apply to anybody.

Besides, the point of my argument, which you completey dodged and ignored, is totally valid. If the government says its ok to do something does that make it morally ok?

Maybe next time instead of turning this into a "your wife and mama are whores" like some 5th grader you could address the point of the argument.

That's because I just got back from a trip and I've been gone for 5 days....DUH!! I called you out on the original point several days ago. And we saw the resonse you gave...which was to say my mama and wife are whores. That tells us what kind of person you are.

Don't come on here and patronize everybody's intellingence by saying that I baited you into some name calling contest. I asked you a question. If the government says its ok to do it than is it really ok? But you couldn't answer that.

And yes, you do owe us an apology.

OK....back to your original question....If the government says it's OK to do it, then is it really OK? Depends on what rule they are talking about. Some of our military guys are trained to kill people. But only in the context of war. He can't just go out an kill a fellow who tiks him off in a bar. In that case, it's not OK.

As far as type ratings go....This money has already been appropriated. I really don't know if it was federal or state money but It was there to be used.

However, I do know remember my former ALPA MEC was encouraging furloughed pilots to use this avenue to get a type rating if thats what they wanted to do. In addition, there were a bunch of type rating schools that were willing to help a pilot get through the maze of paperwork to get this done also.

Here's another example...Lets take the G.I. who decides, on his own accord to leave the military before he is eligible for retirement. He is eligible for the G.I. Bill that will pay for a trade school....college...flight training ( or at least it used to).

Is there anything wrong woith that? I really don't think so. Now you may not like any of these programs but they are there like them or not. About all you can do is write your congressman and senators and try to get these programs eliminated. Somehow, I really don't think that there is a groundswell of excitement to get rid of these programs in WAshington D.C.

As far as my apology goes....it was directed to the readers of these boards ...but not you.

Did the FTI course last summer. Very enjoyable and IMHO a great program. With course cost, hotel and food and spent about $6700.

Groundschool is taught in an office building next to the hotel, which is right across the street from the sim center. Tons of resturaunts plus a Sams Club and Super Wal Mart right next door as well. In other words, no need for a rental car.

Some other pluses. Small classes, usually around 4 people. My G/S instructor, Rich, is the senior 737 G/S instructor at United. Has been around the 737 for 20 years, and teaching it for 15+ years. Also if you do the -200 program, they are about the only customer for the UAL 737-200 sim, so they tend to get their pick of sim times. So plan normal business hours for a sim time. No 2 am sims there.

Check them out if you need a good school and to do it for as low a cost as possible.

cost????????

I just was part of another guys shiney new 737 type ride tonight . I was paid to do it and the new 737capt was paid also. plus perdiem. so as far as cost goes ,it is up to you on how fast and how much you want to pay , or be paid to get a new shiney type rating
