Is the Delta MEC composed of one Capt/one FO rep from each base or % of Capts/FO's, etc.
At NWA each base has one of each, thus giving the smaller bases quite a bit of senatorial power.
one of each, except for ATL which has two of each.
I think the smaller bases have too much power given their size. This can be neutralized by the ATL reps if they choose to do a roll call vote.
Ditto at NWA, except recently our small base Reps have engaged in breaking quorum as a way of stopping a roll call vote. This has not been legally challenged yet, but is a way of doing bad business and prevents the doing of the pilots business.
It was over relatively minor stuff - the CPZ representation on our MEC.
Problem is now we have the threat that anytime roll call could be used on an issue, they will break quorum.
There are arguments either way - it allows the small base WB reps to hold the large bases hostage - of course they claim the same thing about the use of roll call votes.
BOTH are true. If you don't use roll call, then the small bases have a disproportionately valuable vote. On the other hand, if a large base such as ATL does use the roll call, that can negate all the other bases' votes combined--hardly what LEC representation is all about. That is why I am a fan of seniority block representation--or at least my minimal understanding of it. Any FedEx guys care to chime it about it? Pros and cons?
