even if it has been expunged from your record there will still be a record of your charges in the FBI database (connected to your fingerprints) and the airlines have access to this database as far as I know.
 
If there is nothing on your record and no way to prove it keep your mouth shut. You will still sleep fine at night.

Yes, that is why they finger print you. They match it against the FBI database.
