just wanting to know how some other airlines work with base trading or basically just moving bases?

At RAH if we do not have any vacancies then the only way to change a base is via a base trade which gets posted for all the company to see and then if someone senior to you in your current base, wants to take your position in the swap then they can, and you get to stay where you are at, and hope to find someone else to try and trade with again.

so how does it work where you are at?

Hey man. please dont post anything on this board until you and your coworkers stop flying that 100 seat airplane for less than what a copilot makes on a ratted out 50 seater at my airline, especially when your company sells its own tickets on its own two brands. You guys need to do some serious work over there. After you get that sorted out and start getting paid what you are worth to fly a big airplane with your own brand come see us here......

At PSA we can't trade, we have to wait for a new hire or recall class to get awarded a new base. Once a year we do have a "leveling bid" where bid choices are used to allow people to move between bases, if their is a vacancy for the base they want.

At XJT you put your request with crew planning. Then they add you to a list, in seniority order which is all viewable on their web page. So you'll see all the different base trade possibilities as headers "EWR->IAH; CLE->ORD etc..

As long as there is somebody wanting to go in the opposite direction, and you are senior enough on the list, you go.
