If someone is a 4th year First Officer, and upgrades to Captain, do they get 4th year Captain pay, or first year Captain pay? Is it time in seat, or time in service?

Yes, but I am sure there are some companies out there willing to screw their employees over on this.

Who are they?

So a 4th year FO will get 4th year CA pay when they upgrade? Just clarifying.

As far as who screws their employees over on this; I have no idea. Until now, I didn't realize this happened in the first place. I always thought a first year CA made first year CA pay. Mkes sense though, otherwise some FOs would take a pay cut to upgrade.

Don't know where you work but most places is at company not seat.

There are a few companies that screw the empolyees with this one. One is USA 3000.

Commutair you go to 1st year captain pay when you upgrade no matter how long you have worked for the company for.
