If one is logging PIC as sole manipulator on a cross country flight, it is also loggable as cross country flight. If one is logging PIC as pilot in command of an aircraft requiring more than one crewmember, when acting as PIC and safety pilot during a cross country flight, one may lot it as PIC and cross country.

Sure are a lot of silly myths about all this.
