I too built some multi time by sharing it with someone; however, I have heard from MANY different sources that when airlines look at your multi time they would rather see more time in the book where you are the decision maker or true PIC. As an MEI you can build some quality multi time because you are the one responsible for the safety of flight and your knowledge generally exceeds someone who has just flown with their buddy under the foggles because you've been teaching it.

I'm not knockin' it, I'm just saying that careful how much time you log doing it because the high time may get you the interview but it may not look so good during the interview.

Any other thoughts about that?

From their web site, is Lenair one of these places where the instructor sits in back and ALL THREE pilots log PIC time??

Good Lord! THAT would definitely be outside the FARs.
 
To my knowledge, only the two of us up front logged what was flown. As far as the CFI 'observing' in back, we understood they were there to watch our CRM technique and make suggestions or reminders as necessary. We all knew they were observers with commentary and not acting as instructors for the flight.

Obviously anyone can falsify their logbooks if they chose to, but the way the CFI in back logged or did not log time had no bearing on how I logged it. Even if the CFI did pencil whip the flight into their book, that wouldn't change the fact that the two of us in front logged our hours legally.

Although I have heard stories on the board about some shady flight schools encouraging their instructors to log time from the back seat.
 
Well would'nt like to go to that school, 3 people is able to learn frome each other BUT 3 that is to much Talk and Crap when your flying........when you are doing the hourbuilding

Build experience, not hours. Hours mean nothing. Falsify your logbook, if you want hours; it's all they're worth.

Experience cannot be bought. Flying to build hours is wasteful and juvinile. Build experience.
 
You must be far out if you do not think that you gain experience, when you fly 2 people together.....
Again in my eyes you ALWAYS learn something when you fly...
Again when you Fly 100 hours alone toward's your CPL, you are just doinge the same over and over again and again in VFR, 50 hours of Instrument flying is in MY eyes alot better.....
well you have your POINT of viewe and i have mine but i think YOU are well out, buy saying "Falsify your logbook"
Any privat pilot with 50-100 hours is gaining good experience by flying with an other person, and learning frome each other's mistake....

Your information may be a wee bit old, considering they're not called Skyway Airlines anymore. Perhaps someone out there could let us know what competitive mins are, now that Connect is interviewing again.
 
If one is logging PIC as sole manipulator on a cross country flight, it is also loggable as cross country flight. If one is logging PIC as pilot in command of an aircraft requiring more than one crewmember, when acting as PIC and safety pilot during a cross country flight, one may lot it as PIC and cross country.

Sure are a lot of silly myths about all this.

Thomas, thanks for your expert 60 hour pilot opinion (in your eyes). I stand corrected.
