Both the Red Carpet Inn (aka the dirty carpet) and the Airport Inn, offer crew rates below 40$. The are a couple of miles from the beach off of the NW side of the airport on State Highway 84. The money you save can be spent on a rent car. I doubt that you will find anything on the beach during spring break. Maybe I should sublet rooms in the crashpad. Just kidding with ya, the slumlord would kill me.
If you have to get near the beach, I'd try the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel. It is almost full of DAL and SWA overnights. Spirit used to stay there until one of our stupid crewmembers pissed off the owner. @$#%@&#%@&@*%@$##()#*&%@!!!!!!!

BTW, last time I was at the Dirty Carpet, they had the waitstaff in lingerie for lunch. Definately not Hooters, but better than a sharp stick in the eye.
