I heard some rumblings about bad blood between Bombardier and Horizon... Anyone else?

There has been bad blood between the two since day one.. remember all the trips back to the WVAC?? it's because they can't build a friggin airplane right the first time. Don't even get me started with the whole thing with 412...

412? No, please continue. I assume you're refering to 412QX??? I'm hanging on the edge of my seat!

in 2002, 412, when it was just 3 weeks old, torched an engine in SMF. it was inbound from BOI when the #1 PEC failed, causing the crew to shutdown the left engine, and lane single engine. THe next day, MX from PDX came down to SMF, fixed the PEC. on runup after the part change, #1 exploded, and shot parts and a flame out the back end of the engine. It also burned the cowls.

The Bombardier tech rep (when he finally showed up) just stood there and shrugged his shoulders...

so much for tech help from the manufacturer. heck, MX from QX knew more about the airplane then the tech rep did.

PM me for more info.

the song remains the same

When I hired on in 89 a de Havilland tech rep lived at QX full time (Tak Takahatchi). Horizon basically did real world proving on the Dash 100. Tak and Rod the Ion God would be in ground school, and if you asked how something worked they just looked at each other and shrugged. I figured if the people that built it didn't know how it worked us line pukes would never know. Nice to see nothing has changed.

Along these lines, any word on what caused the 400 to puke one on T/O, what was it, Friday? Thursday?
