Anybody now the best way to prepare for them. Got called for a December 16th interview.
Really looking forward to working for them.
Is there any schools or companies on the west coast that offer frasca 142 sim time/cost.
On the sim ride. A list of all known airports would be great to know.
What is the best way to answer the following questions..

what is your worst/best trait? on both a personal and professional level
Do you want to go to the majors ( I don't care at this time if I do or not.)

Horizon Interview

If you are looking for a place for interview prep I would say the best place you could go for Horizon would be Aviation Training Center. It is located on Boeing Field in Seattle. They have pilots from Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air running you through the sim ride and interview prep. The people there are some of the greatest around you will probably talk to marie when you call she is very helpful and can tell you all the info on the course. The number i have is 1-888-708-2180. You can also look for them online at atcseattle.com Give them a call I did some training with them a few years and it was a great experience !!!

Good luck

How did you get the interview?

rflight4u,
My career, at least regional career goal is to fly for Horizon. Just curious how did you get the opportunity to interview with them?
I see you have King Air and Westwind experience, was that with a 135 operation. I am still debating on what route to take to gain experience such as a 135 type job compared to my CFIing.

Aviationinterviews.com has some good gouge on a lot of airlines, including Horizon, a couple are pretty recent (1-3 months old). It has good info on some written test questions, interview questions, and sim ride.

Good luck, let us know the results!

I'm guessing he's an UNDie - but the profile doesn't reflect that - I'm also curious how you scored an interview.

I too would like to know the trick to getting an interview I have my resume walked in, 1000 turbine twin, three years 121 experince.

I did get a postcard saying they got my info.

I would love to come work for my home town airline.

I don't know if my current job anthing to do with it. Currently flying for a 121 cargo company. Flying 60k aircraft.
Also sent in one letter of recommendation with my stuff.

Good luck,

PM me if you need more info:

Walkin...

The way to get a QX interview is to have a current employee (does not have to be a pilot) walk it in. It seems that is the best approach. In addition I heard the selection process can take up to 2 months, very competitive.

Good Luck.

Oh yeah...It does not hurt to have UND on your res!!

How to get contacts?

If a person does not currently know anyone in the company you want to work for, how can you get to know someone good enough for them to walk your res in? Especially if you do not live in the geographic area where the company flies?
Maybe a Big Brother Pilot program should be created, you meet with a volunteer company rep and if they like you as a person, maybe go on a GA flight so they can briefly see your skills, then they walk your res in.

UND- are you refering to the university of north dakota? I am not one, glad not to be one, would hate to be one.

All my ratings and training came through the old part 61 way. Never through college or anything else.

Congratulation on the interview!

When you see LaMaar Haugaard, the CP for Horizon - who would most likely interview you - please do 'share' your sentiments about the UND grads and training...
He’s a UND grad...

Also, wouldn't it be hypocritical of you to want to work for a boss who's a graduate of a school that you 'hate' to be from...?

I hope he sees that right through you!

If my information is correct, Horizon has quite a few captains and FOs from UND…you’re in for a ‘rude awakening’ when you find out that the graduates of institution you ‘hate’ are actually doing as well and if not better than the ‘non-und’ pilots…

And please, if and when you get hired, try to ‘get along’ with your former UND captain who got hired at Horizon with 600TT/50ME and no prior 121 experience…

rflight2u - don't worry about this guy - he's just pissed he payed twice as much as everybody else for the same certificates (cheap shot - I know :) )

I think flybunny went to Riddle.:)

graduates of institution you ‘hate’ are actually doing as well and if not better than the ‘non-und’ pilots…

How are UNDies doing as good or better than non-UNDies? Do they do better in precision landing contests in the Dash or the aircraft ID competition? :D

"would hate to be one"
"all my ratings and training came through the old part 61 way. Never through college or anything else"

I say you're hired, you sound like a blast to fly with. We can spend the whole time with you telling me how much better your training was. Get over yourself man.

I wanted to say that i really don't have anything agaist those who go through the 141 school, however, my previous statement was only said because i think so many that go through that type of school take things for granted.
i do know and have worked with several that have gone that way, many of which I can so where no stuck up or think the world was given to them.
I am happy for anyone who makes it through aviation, I just do not like those type of pilots, or students who think that the world owes them something in life.....

You're entitled to your opinion, just pretty harsh words coming from a) someone who apparently knows nothing about the school, and b) someone whose about to interviewed by an UNDie.

I bet there are pilots at Horizon that don't like UNDies, but they got hired anyways.... because it's not a topic that comes up in an interview.
