DashTrash nailed it right on the head. We don't have that many retirements within the next five years. Movement should remain about the same. I think for the entire year of 2008, there were only 8 guys retiring.
Hey DashTrash. . .when are you going to change your forum name? (E-trash. . .doesn't quite sound the same)

Chaka!
Land of the Lost used to scare the crap out of my as a kid. The Sleestacks were the worst. :bawling:
Ouch, thanks age 65 rule....5 year upgrades weren't bad enough.
Well,
You wanted the great QOL and high pay right off the bat! Well, you got it! You knew going in there upgrades were going to be slow!
Hell, I knew that, that's why I declined the interview, I would still be sitting in the right seat if I would have taken the offer. And that was in 2002. I took it in the shorts went to a smaller regional for a couple of years and made it out in a little over three years!!
I'll get you some cheese to go with you whine!!
Okay this is again for you idiots, yes, I have gone down the road of name calling, that you are an idiot to think you are entitled to see someone forced to retire early than whats right, because a lot of pilots had to face that WRONG in the past. Oh have you thought of what you will do when you are 60? Now you will have the option to cont working, or retire! Wow what a concept! If the rule was not changed, guess what? No health care. No income at a time when you should be earning the most. Guess what? Some employers do not think flying airplanes amounts to much, so you better have some well connected Corportate pilots to get you a job your last five years of your career.
Enough said......those of you who do not like this rule, guess what, when you turn 60, stand by your current attitudes and quit at 60, so the seniority list moves faster for the guys below you.
Lot's of "guess what's" there, sparky.
You knew the mandatory retirement age was 60 when you started.
You had exactly the same opportunity as everyone else to secure your retirement future during your working career.
You probably faced a few setbacks, maybe made a couple of bad choices, maybe got a few good breaks; exactly the same as everyone else.
Now you want to change the rules to suit you and stagnate everyone on the seniority list below you, denying them anything like the career progression you may have enjoyed, just so you can stay on the gravy train a little longer.
And, BTW, I think that those who believe that the sense of entitlement is anywhere but at the top of the list are, well, idiots.
Thanks for another five years at FO pay.

I agree, a well written post. The age 65 rule is in place and it's just best to accept it and move on. But I DO NOT want to put up with old guys telling me that age 60 wasn't fair when they benefitted from it their entire careers and now stagnated the careers of the younger pilots behind them.
There's 15, not 8. Applicants to Horizon beware!
