Flew a C172 with 11 hours on it, pretty tight rigging
 
Same thing happened recently to one of our -100's. Boeing pulled all manf. support for it, because it cycled out.


I have heard that Boeing is not going to sponser for anymore Airframe lifetime extention on 746SA. which means that it will become bunch of beer cans soon.
 
Old JAL -100's meet their end becouse of the cycles on them. They were used on multiple short hops throughout their life. I don't know how cycle's it takes before they are shredded though.
 
Seems like most of your Boeings and Douglas's are built so well they will fly forever.
I've seen some rj's with some real wear & tear. I wonder if these aircraft will have the longevity of the old 727's, 747's, DC 8's, 9's, and 10's.

Generally speaking Boeings have a airframe life.. Douglas doesn't so in theory a DC-10 could live forever so long is you give it a D check.. I think there are some 150,000+ DC-10 out there flying around, and I know we have some here at Gemini that date back to 1971.. so you do the math. Heck, our 11's are in the high 30's..
