Hi all. I have never accually flown any time, but that is because I am 12. My stepdad is going to teach me how. I sorta kinda know how but not enough to really fly. I am going to get my PPL whenever I can so I am looking foward to flying. see you guys around.

get yourself a flight simulator and a joystick for your computer. i also might suggest rod machado's private pilot book to read in your spare time. it's thick but helpful and *mildly* entertaining. take some of what you learn in that book and try it out in the simulator. good luck, though.

Welcome aboard! It's never too early to get started in aviation. Looks like you're gonna be one of those kids who gets the PVT on the 17th birthday and COMM/CFI on the 18th! Good luck!

Cool, I accually do have FS and a joystick. I have about 41hrs of simFlight time in MSFS.

Welcome

I took a 12 year old on a discovery flight the other day. He was the most excited "student" I've had so far. I had his parents set up a schedule that allows him to fly once every two months. I thought that would set him up well by the time he's 17. Seat height was an issue. Micheal, get your stepdad to put something solid in your seat that allows you to see over the instrument panel. You probably won't be able to reach the pedals but that's O.K.

Once you get around 200hrs or so check Gulfstream Academy. The have the right program for guys like you. Good luck

yeah, ignore paco. you'll mostly get serious answers here, but people like paco are mad at the world and just aren't really nice...

he is too young for advice on college so I will wait.

Back when I was a CFI...

I had a 12 year old student who would fly once a month. We propped him up with a boat cushion or two and I had to help on the brakes, but from all the MS Flight Sim this kid did, he could climb out at an airspeed, make a nice coordinated turn, slow flight, constant bank turns to headings...all on the first lesson!

he was more serious about preparing for lessons and reading the material than most of my older students too. I hear he soloed on his 16 th birthday too.

So Michael...it can be done. I started taking lessons on and off when I was 15 and I remember I couldn't wait for school to get out on flying lesson day. Best of luck to ya!

Hey, I thought what Paco said was funny. Michael won't get it (but he will by the time he has his private ticket if he hangs around here long enough...).

Michael--Welcome. I advise you to sit back and observe some of the goings on here. You might tell your parents that some of the postings might be for mature audiences (not that pilots can be considered mature...).

There is a wealth of experience here. If you have any questions, it may be wise to visit the "Training" section. A lot of the stuff here in the other sections will be over your head which is ok considering your age and experience level. Just keep plugging away and be patient.

Have fun.TC
