I got the news from my buddy....Linda told him the G200 on Jan. 29 in Dallas. His domicile is CMH. He will go through Indoc in March.

I have a question or two.

1) How do they select for A/C? (Is it just whats open...or do they pick based on total time...or something else..?)

2) What do you think of the G200? (Work skd wise and what not...)

Thanks in advance...

(He is very excited about the Jan. 29 class date in the G200. But, he doesn't know anything about QOL and types of trips it runs.)

Congrats to your buddy!

As for your questions, aircraft are assigned mostly on what's available though some consideration is given to one's flight background. As I've said in other posts, those without any jet time are usually assigned to the non-APU planes or maybe the Excel while airline retirees often see the Falcon or G200. That said, there are cases where some retirees have gone to the Ultra and I do know of a few t-prop-only guys who got the X as an experiment.

As for my thoughts on the G200, it's a very nice-looking plane. When I've checked out the interior, I've thought that the G200 is very spacious and nicely laid out. The cockpit is very cool and you actually step up to the flight deck. But what do I know, I'm on the Encore...

Email by Derinda last week. A Phone call from Linda (?, is that right?) today.

Hmmm... I interviewed the same time and haven't heard a peep. They said no news was good news at the interview however.

Did your buddy work for AE and/or Pinnacle?

Damn Floyd, how many times have you seen my avitar?

Dude, shot me a PM and let me at least slap my name on your stuff. Us "Pack Brothers" gotta look out for eachother.

Good for your buddy. The G200 is a better choice from a pilot-comfort standpoint than the Citation X, Sovereign, Hawker 800XP, etc. It is as wide as most Challengers up front - so you have a lot more space than the X or Sovereign. The G200 has some long legs and trips will likely be longer than other fleet types - transcon trips will be frequent. That being said, all fractional aircraft fly both short and longer flights depending upon their range - everything from HPN to TEB or VNY to SMO to the longer flights from California to Hawaii or VNY to TEB. So, your friend will get a great mix of different types of flights and he will be sitting in a comfortable cockpit.

On the negative side, I hear it flies like a truck - somewhat rigid. However, that is manageable and you get used to it.

I just finished up G200 initial on Dec 22. I have been sitting at home ever since waiting on training up in Ohio. I thought the cockpit was very well thought out. I thought the systems were very easy to learn and understand. If you have time with a collins FMS, your transition will be easy. If you want to see a sampling of G200 trips, you can do a search on flightaware.com for NJA call signs with 700 series of numbers. If you have a preference for the 7 and 7 schedule, I was able to bid it and hold it for my very first quarter. The future looks bright, and most guys seem very happy....
