Your culture has been dying since you guys treated the Airtran guys poorly in your merger

AirTran pilots will be treated fairly in our acquisition, the law requires it.
The AirTran pilots are going to receive hundreds of millions of SWA bucks that they were unable to negotiate for on their own. How are they being treated poorly again?

The law requires that an SLI is fair and equitable for both parties. AirTran pilots have nothing to offer other than seniority. The deal must be fair and equitable so it makes sense that both sides will pay. SWA with their contract and AirTran with their seniority.

It has to be fair and equitable for both sides, not just the acquired.

Oh, Lord . . . .

Everyone has their opinion of what is fair. We've read your opinion for 6 months now . . . and you've read ours.

The only choir you're preaching to is yours, the only choir we're preaching to is ours.

You're scared of what this merger means to your upgrade. We get it, already. Give it a rest.

It would seem to me that the possiblities of growth would be endless for awhile. I know they have midway but DTW's north terminal has a lot of empty gates still and its brand new. It could also be an international launching point as midway could not handle that

Sorry Charlie- Airtran pilots aren't merging with swa management. sw pilots aren't giving at pilots "hundreds of millions", swa management is. Therefore, at pilots won't be giving sw pilots their earned seniority. sw pilots don't give up any money. at pilots don't give up any seniority. Nobody loses a thing.
Got it?

If growth is soon to be endless with this merger, it certainly stands to reason that the merger is finally creating upgrades, something which was non existent for a long time at sw. at pilots bring upgrades which are worth hundreds of millions, indeed.

AT pilots aren't the hero, nor are they bringing upgrades. SWA pilot's bring a good contract. This was funded by SWA and negotiated by SWAPA. AT is the small piece of the puzzle. Cash is King!

You are correct about AT pilots not merging with SWA management. You are being acquired by SWA management and merged with Guadalupe holdings.

The only pilots that have EARNED SWA seniority are those with a SWA date of hire. Everyone else will have their seniority negotiated depending on what they bring to the table.

Thats funny, AAI'st pay rates are far better than SWA's pay rates were at 17 years old. I think little old AAI has done fine and would have continued to do well...... but whatever makes you feel better.

When Delta or other legacies get those rates back, and we will, what will you say then? I know what you will say: "Grreat, another Grand Island and Lakeland 3 day trip. Boring! I sure wish I could GO somewhere, not just go to nowhere.". You are closer to that than you think. Higher pay for the moment is the only thing you have now. Your culture has been dying since you guys treated the Airtran guys poorly in your merger. Too bad.

No, I just don't. I agree with others that I will have your pay scale sooner than later, and variety in my flying to keep me interested and enthusiastic throughout my new flying career with my new airline. When the payscales are equal, you will be the one with envy, not me. Your bragging will stop almost immediately.

I hope your payscales do go up astronomically.

Unfortunately it seems DALPA is already managing the expectations of DAL pilots. They have said that SWA payscales are not a fair comparator due to the different type of operation.

Your Union and company will use those differences between the two airlines that you are proud of, to make sure you aren't paid as well.

Incorrect. The common strategy is to pay our 737 pilots your rates, and bigger planes get more. Thanks to Airtran pilots also getting those rates via a merger, that helps our cause. Rumor has it Delta agreed to those payrates already, inexhange for 2 more years on the current contract plus NO other changes, which Dalpa supposedly didn't like. Watching the Airtran guys get the huge raise will help our cause obviously.

I have heard the same rumors. We'll see....

I hope you're correct. ALPA does need a win, especially when it comes to DAL.

ALPA only managed a 3% payraise and a measly couple of grand bonus for Fedex pilots. Only 57% of Fedex pilots voted for the TA. ALPA national sold it like a Tijuana hooker. A sad sight for a company that made billions.

SWAPA pilots flying 737's make more that a DAL 747 Captain. Extraplolate that payraise across the DAL pilot group ..... It's not going to happen with ALPA's team of "professional negotiators". Look at their record over the past decade. It doesn't matter if your company makes billions (Fedex) or you are on strike (Spirit). ALPA just wants a TA signed and they cant even spell 'leverage'.

Just to be clear; I don't work for SWA.

Cheers

merger? Thanks to AirTran? How about Thanks to SWA and SWAPA. Can you say that?

I actually know the lead negotiator for Delta, and he is very smart and sharp. He deals with the company now on pilot issues, and is always prepared.

I think we all know what happened to our pay and other benefits after BK. We all know SWA has better rates, and as others have said on this board it is great the Citrus guys will get their pay too, which will take away the stance from our company "we can't pay you that because Airtran only makes this amount....." They can't use that card anymore.

Obviously a lot of negotiating depends on what the economic climate is like during that time period. We negotiated for our joint contract with NWA during $130 oil, and that didn't help much. Now we are profitable, are hedged better than most, and still have awhile until our contract is ammendable. Our CEO said recently that he still expects a small profit for this year, and that is a good thing going into negotiations later this year.

You mean thanks to Wall St and hedge fund managers? They are the ones TELLING GK what to do. Not SWAPA. You know it is true.

You are right, SWA and various hedge fund managers got us our contract. What you smokin general?

Guess you haven"t been on this site long enough to know I got hired by Delta and Southwest. Obviously I chose Southwest. The guys in my interview group at Delta were furloughed for a time. I guess you could call that a "variety in flying" but they weren't too enthusiastic about it.

And I wasn't bragging. I was telling you that Flint would pay the same as LGA. Bring on your pay raise. We've been on an island for the better part of the past DECADE!
