I heard that there was a Helicopter Crash at Grand Canyon West today. The 5 passengers flew to GCW on Air Vegas and were going to take the helicopter down to the bottom. On the way down he apparently flew into the side of the Canyon. 5 passengers and 1 pilot. More details to come.

it isn't serious when 6 people die?

No one had said that they were dead, he was probably hoping that some survived. Though according to the linked stories everyone died.

Yeah I didn't know the details in my earlier post so I thought it might have just been an incident or maybe a non-fatal accident. I am so sorry to hear that it was fatal. May the Lord be with them all.

He's got a lot of territory to cover. Maybe He was chasing Osama bin Laden at the time?

where was he when they flew into the wall?

Either this is sarcasm, or true ignorance. I'll take door number two, Monty.

He is always available to the believer. Faith in Him does not mean you will not die at any other time than YOUR time. It DOES mean that when you die, you are doing so in a state of readiness to Meet Him and to begin your new life in His presence.

Some of the people in the helicopter may have been prepared to meet Him, and some may not have. The true tragedy is those who were not prepared are only now finding out the error of their ways.

Those who were prepared knew what to expect, and are thankful that they accepted His free gift.

By Golly, Timebuilder. I do believe you "get it"!

Timebuilder I will take door number 3, he is a troll, why else would be choose the name Vladimir Lenin and such a signature.

Here's the info so far

While the Pilot was descending into a canyon known as descent canyon, the helicopter (Astar 300) came out of the dive and then went right into one of the canyon walls.

They think that he may have passed out. 6 Japanese tourist and the pilot all perished. I also heard that it was a whole family but that is unconfirmed. The FAA and NTSB are having a difficult time getting to the wreckage because of its location.

Pretty sad.

Diving in a helicopter?

Is this some sort of a high performance helo move that I don't know about?

Did you guys know you have a 1/360 chance of getting whacked on your birthday?

On the other hand, you have a 1/1,999,000 (or worse) chance of getting a winner for a big lotter ticket!

Life is not fair.

Are you implying that you have a smaller chance of getting whacked during the five days leading up to April 15th?

How many days in a year?

Usually 365, occasionally 366, But when the big asteroid hits this year, there will only be 342 days, when the planet is knocked out of orbit, and plumets into the sun. That wouldn't be fair either, would it?

There is no reason that a helicopter cannot dive. You push it over from level flight and there you have it. You can get into trouble quite easily when your rate of descent cannot be arrested with the power available (as can often happen at high gross weights, high temperature, high altitude).

The basic aerodynamic priciples still apply to helicopters .... thier wings just go 'round and 'round.

My wife and I were in a helicopter crash at Grand Canyon West Airport, Sept 11, 2002, Operator was Heli-USA out of Las Vegas. No deaths, one injury.
