First story it's raining golf balls on OJ Simpson's house:

Second one, I don't have a link to, but a private chopper pilot flying a Schweizer 300, decided to land at his house, to eat dinner. The police thinking it's an emergency drove there, to find it wasn't. Issued him 3 tickets for careless operation of an aircraft.

I am wondering what FARs did he break, if any?

He may or may not have violated FAR's. However, most US cities have ordinances against landing helicopters on non-official landing sites, except for EMS or military helicopters on official business.

I've landed HUEY's, fully loaded with hungry state troopers, at several Pizza Huts all over Indiana. Do you think any local cop was going to give me a ticket? Of course not, I was on official business supporting the ISP on drug interdiction missions. It just happened to be lunch time.

Hi!

Our neighbor has had a guy land an Enstrom? in his backyard a few times. Once he landed in the wrong yard, and then this guy's. We've talked to the police about it, and they said there's nothing they could do. I also called my local FSDO, who also said there was basically nothing they could do.

His house is in the middle of our subdivision, with not much in the way of suitable safe emergency landing areas. The last time, the pilot left the engine running and the rotor turning as he went into the house, with a bunch of kids around. I told the FSDO this, but they didn't seem concerned. I know when I flew helos in the military, if a rotor was turning, we had to have a pilot at the controls.

Any comments?

I have heard of drive though, I wonder if anyone is thinking about building a fly thoughs?

Cliff,

Don't you remember frictioning the controls on the TH-55 to do a zone recon? We routinely did our own hot refueling in the Gulf many years ago, but I doubt the insurance companies allow it now days. However, I don't think it's very wise to leave a helicopter running in a neighborhood with kids, much less even land in a neighborhood of houses.

If you are in an incorporated city, I would go to the city council and try to get an ordinance against landing in a housing area.

Oh, I forgot. I guess I can add TH-55 to that list on the left.

Hi!

Your skipper sounds like a great leader, and the base CO sounds like an A$$. I wish we had more of the former.

PS-I hope Hawaiian pulls out of this OK!

I was in Bermuda from '84 to '89. That was the first Mcdonalds I've ever been too.

Kindley always had the good stuff. There was a nice beach by an antenea farm...

Anyways I digress.

When where you there Jim.

PS. I wasn't in the Navy.
