Any one here ever use a headhunter to find a flying job? Does anyone know of a headhunter that specializes in finding flying jobs?

I'm trying to get a job in the DFW area but I'll use anyone anywhere if they can get me a job.

KSU

Is that Kent State University by any chance?

I've been using JPI.
Not very happy with the results, but it is a very weak economy. I've found that most of the web based firms want money and promise nothing. If anyone has a suggestion I'm all ears.

Rice

I joined some outfit in New Orleans years ago. I can't remember the name, but I never heard a word from them.

Headhunters can be real ripoffs. Let's say that one gets you a job but the employer doesn't like you. The headhunter probably signed an agreement that protects the employer and will do nothing for you. Also, quite a few of them practice bait-and-switch tactics. They advertise for a certain job, but when they finally call you they tell you the job has been filled and ask if you're interested in another job. Even worse, they bring you in for an interview and tell you the job has been filled.

I wouldn't waste my time with them. The best headhunter that you know is you. Get a list of DFW companies and addresses, and start sending materials. You might even search the Dallas Morning News classifieds. Sometimes, the classifieds in local papers have aviation job ads. I remember that last summer Riddle advertised in the Denver Post for flight instructors, training managers and mechanics to staff its new program at the Air Force Academy.

Good luck with your job search.

FWIW, Riddle's website still indicates that they're hiring instructors for their USAFA contract.

Riddle AFA contract job

That really sounded like a nice job for certain people. Nice place to live, good working conditions, alright money and benies, and motivated students. No multi or instrument time. I could have been interested in that job. Retirees who otherwise might hang up their helmets and goggles and have no money worries would enjoy a job like that.

There just may not be that much flying, though. One poster pointed out that there is almost always a high DA at the AFA and when weather is a certain way it may be too hot to fly or too cold to fly. But, it still could be a lot of fun.
