Delta Song President Announces Retirement
Friday October 1, 5:53 pm ET President of Song, Delta Air Lines' Leisure Market Unit, Announces Retirement

ATLANTA (AP) -- John Selvaggio, president of Song, Delta Air Lines Inc.'s leisure market unit, announced his retirement Friday, effective immediately. Selvaggio led the creation of Delta's latest airline-within-an-airline experiment in April, 2003, when it was a pet project of former chief executive Leo Mullin. And he helped fight to keep Song alive after Gerald Grinstein, took over as CEO in January, and made it clear he thought it was a bad idea.

As Robt Mitchum said in "Killer in the Family" as he jumped out of a van while approaching a roadblock - "Every man for themselves." This was after he talked his lawbiding sons into breaking him out of jail, cause "family should stick together."

Any idea where Mr. Selvaggio will end up?

I'm hearing it's Aloha.

I am betting Salvaggio is getting tired of the crap management is throwing at him... Song apparently has done pretty well according to Grinstein, but it is an uphill battle in this LCC environmnet - and the internal politics probably don't help. The Aloha offer makes sense - I know I'd take it and spend a lot of time on the sunny beaches....
