I saw on Hawaiian web page that their is currently 8 767 FO slots open to those that are on furlough. If APC.com is correct with only 16 guys on furlough could we expect that Hawaiian will begin to hire soon?

Was their people in the pool at Hawaiian before furloughs began?

Sorry, but I think any hiring at Hawaiian has been delayed for a while. Of the recalled pilots, 9 or so have been re-furloughed (if that's a word) and the company just offered 2 year LOA's.

Pretty much how I described things in my post above. Until a deal on the new airplanes is worked out not much is going to happen staffing wise. There was talk of hiring this summer but I don't think that's going to happen.

GO! in the market doesn't help much either. They finally raised their fare to $49 OW. Wow, you mean losing money since their inception with fares of $19/$29/$39 doesn't lead to profits???? Idiots!

I was hired a month before sept 11! Great timing..I was told that 8 guys were hired and waiting for class when osama pulled his little stunt. Everyone thought i was crazy for wanting hawaiian, but to me that was the dream job. I just took a job with net jets and i will be based at home in san diego. If hawaiian calls i don't think i will take it at this point. You can have my spot! Good luck.

Hawaiian delay new airplane order

Hawaiian Airlines' $4.4B plan to buy 24 jets delayed

[FONT=Times New Roman, Times, serif]The parent of Hawaiian Airlines said today that its $4.4 billion plan to buy 24 Airbus wide-body jets has been delayed and may not be completed.

The state's largest airline said the delay is the result of an impasse in negotiations with its pilots union.
Hawaiian previously announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus and Rolls-Royce to acquire the long-haul jets, in the largest-ever investment by a locally based company. Hawaiian said it needs to get an agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association over the terms and conditions that the new planes would enter its fleet before it can sign a definitive agreement for the plans. The company said it may have to abandon the deal if it can't reach an agreement with its union.

Didn't know where else to post this. For any HAL guys. I was on a HNL-SEA flight last week when the Capt. made his announcement, he added 3 TSA rules he said he was required to inform the cabin. 1, no lines for the Lua 2, no loitering in the galleys and 3, no coach pax is to use the first class lua. I can't seem to find these rules on the TSA site. Is this a HAL Ops thing or was the Capt just stating it as so?

Great flight!
