The keiki fare: Hawaiian matches Aloha

Only 24 hours after Aloha Airlines announced a half-price sale on interisland travel for children, Hawaiian Airlines Thursday unveiled a similar offer

In both cases, the deals apply to interisland travel booked not later than May 20 for travel taken not later than June 15, in which a child 17 or younger travels with an adult. Electronic tickets must be used.

Aloha excluded its lowest price fare from the offer while Hawaiian specified that the adult must be flying at full fare. Both airlines referred customers to their Web sites for additional restrictions.

In both cases the idea seems to be to stimulate local family travel between islands in the weeks when school winds down but the summer crush of visitors from the Mainland has yet to wind up.
