What's the deal with the new owners - Ranch Capital? Anyone know how they will treat labor or will it be another USAirways scenario?
See my earlier post. Ranch Capital = Hawaiian Holdings. They want to a$$ fuk us without any vasoline.

Well hopefully you guys can get over to the East coast soon.

Aloha just amazes me how they can utilize a 737 anywhere. I'd like to see them flying international more with the NG.
If they are talking east coast, then would it be possible for them to fly to Australia with a fuel stop or possibly elsewhere?

Haven't heard anyone at AQ excited about going all the way to NY in the winter. If they've had a rough time on the West coast with ATC, imagine New York Approach!

And Australia ain't gonna happen. They're closing their stations in Raro, Maj, and Kwaj in January. Unless they figure out how to air-refuel, they're not going there.

Do you see yourself going back if you get recalled HAL? Would be a tough call imo.
Hey ILS,

Going back to HAL? There's way too many variables right now for me to come close to an informed decision. Will HAL grow? Or will they shrink? Will they buy some of ATA's 757 and bring us all back in a hurry, or will the 'work rule changes' cause more furloughs?

Right now the junior captain at Hawaiian has almost 18 years with the company. At AWA I'm looking at about 6 - 7 years for upgrade. Either of those may reverse in a heartbeat too, so for now the best bet is to wait until HAL comes out of bankruptcy and then survey the field.

I'm surprised why HAL doesn't serve the East Coast with non-stop flight already?
I'm sure they'd love to be doing that now, but they simply don't have the planes to do it. The president came right out and said they'd made a mistake turning back the final two 767's when they went into bankruptcy. And since then they've had their heads buried too far up their rears concerned with how to make the biggest buck for themselves in the bankruptcy rather than actually run the airline. They should have been looking at planes and expansion a year ago. Instead, they still have nearly 100 pilots still on furlough. Frustrating!!!

And finally, looking at your avatar, I believe I know you (D.K.?). How's the Twin Otter treating you?

HAL

Heard while jumpseating that if ATA planes were to be bought by Hawaiian, Pilots from ATA might be coming as well. That would not be good.

That won't happen. Not with a quarter of HAL's pilots still on furlough. They may have been talking about America West, which would have taken the pilots along with the planes.

Well, hopefully HAL will get back on their feet. I recently did the ANC-HNL-ANC deal that Hawaiian flies, was nice. I saw the same flight attendant on the same flight 3 different times (did that flight a few months before).

You mentioned that the junior captain had 18 years seniority, now is the 717 or the 767 the junior plane?

Yes, you know me. The Twotter is great, the exciting thing is we are getting all glass cockpits installed in them. I should be taking my checkride on the new equipment probably this week sometime. I'm sure you've heard of (Capstone II).

Later.

I just hope things work out good for Hawaiian Airlines. It's a good airline with great people that personify the "Ohana Spirit" of Hawaii! Best of luck to all Tama o Aiga!!!! Ia Manuia!!!:)

For you Hawaiian Language experts try to figure that one out.
