I dusted off the big book and found what I was looking for.
I guess, since the check airman doesn't have to sign the logbooks I need to specifically put that it was a PC in my logbook to operate a plane outside of 121.
Anyway, I always say that between the FAR's, pilot contract, and timesheets you need a lawyer.
 
You do not need a high alt. endorsement to fly 121. It is covered in training by doing the rapid descent from altitude from either seat. I had one before coming here, but it by no means helped me get the job.

I don't think that is correct about a type ride covering all of the sub endorsements. Simuflite wanted to charge me additional money for some type of special course. I said hell no, and had my sim partner sign me off. Sure you do the rapid descent but ground doesn't cover any of the other stuff like high altitude operations, physiology, etc. Which I did cover with my sim partner.

I don't believe there is anything in the FAR's about who can do the high altitude signoff. You had just better be prepared to explain who did everything and why, if you ever have to.
 
I don't have a high altitude endorsement but I have a type rating for the EMB-120 which is a pressurized aircraft certified to 32,000 feet.
 
How tough is it for a civilian to get a chamber ride? In retrospect, I thought the altitude chamber was a VERY valuable bit of training, one that I think every commercial pilot should do. Knowing your own hypoxia symptoms, how time of useful consciousness changes dramatically between 25,000 and say 36,000 feet, makes the high-altitude environment seem less mysterious.

Nothing like watching your bud become a drooling idiot within 15 seconds at FL350 in the safety of the chamber!:D
 
I don't have the FAR handy but, in regards to the Flight Review--

Consider the type of aircraft. Let's say you have been flying B737's for the past 3 years with flight reviews or prof. checks with your company check airman. Now you want to go rent a 172 to take someone joyriding. Do you think you would need a Flight Review in the 172? It would be a pretty good idea if you did. When I was a CFI, I had a check airman for AirTran come to me for a 172 checkout. He did fine, but I also had a DC-8 Captain who had to come back 3 times until he was able to land like one of my solo students! Isn't there something in the FAR about Flight Reviews in the type of aircraft to be flown?
