Okay...so the gestapo got your tweezers and finger nail file. What I want to know is why a freight dog can walk right through the FBO door and without any security at all access the entire NAS. Hmmm...if a whale skipper can't be trusted with a nail file yet a foreign FO without cockpit access (typed on company ID) has what amounts to un-screened access to restricted areas someone somewhere has a warped sense of reality. Someone needs to shake some sugar trees at the FAA and get on the stick or history may repeat itself. I call on all airline pilots to speak out against single pilot operations and demand security screening at FBO's for night freight runners. Fair is fair. The "nintendo generation" at the helm in a race to get the highest score (most flight time) is, to say the least, un-nerving. Refer to the post regarding the Captain using his cell phone while taxiing onto an active runway. That sort of garbage is grounds for complete revocation of all pilot certs and ratings. Glad I'm out of the business and on to another career. Anyone hungry? Out. Sometimes I can't help but truly believe military pilots understand the essence of aviation and seem to be much more disciplined and much better trained in several critical areas...not the least of which is Airmanship and CRM. Sorry all you FSI pilots...you are not in the right seat of that regional plane to "train" and the tid-bit of CRM training you received just doesn't quite measure up to your military counterparts. Obviously, I've seen good and bad from both ranks but the prevailing trend seems to be heading in a very ominous direction. Thanks goodness for automation. Just my two cents but when I read the post about the captain that used his cell phone and the other stuff in the post, it kind of got my blood boiling. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. The old theory of what happens when the door is closed stays in the airplane does have exceptions. Put out the NOTAMS on that guy and demand the FAA allow tweezers for crying out loud! Out. By the way...all you civilian trained pilots out there...don't take my opinion too personally, I've seen some military pilots do some pretty wacky stuff too. My point is there is a lot of work to be done in the area of Aviation Safety and Security and arbitrary rulemaking by bean counters and bureaucratic banana-heads needs to be reviewed. Sorry if I seem a little rough around the edges but dammit...guys and gals...cell phone conversations in position? Come on!
