Yea, but if gave him some real stories, we'd have to spend some time in the hoosegow...I'm not up for that, though I could use a little time out.

Speaking of going down and living to tell the tale...any of you guys here about the plane that snagged a skydiver south of MKE yesterday? I guess the plane went down in the woods.

He survived...So I guess the plane "Went down on him" after it went down on a skydiver...jump pilots always seem to get the sloppy seconds

I haven't got any details as of yet, but the boys at the shop told me about it and thought it was Pilatus or Caravan...one thought it was Helio Stallion. They said the jumper and jump pilot got out of it alive though!

There's a lot of pilots in here with a lot of hours. I'm just interested in whether or not anyone has ever had to make a forced landing away from an airport, and what it was like...

Twice with engine failures. The first, fortunately enough, was while we were practicing forced landings. The instructor put it down superbly upslope on a big rock. The second was right after a practice ITO. I put it into a vacant lot next to a 5 story apartment building. Both with no damage. Another was a severe multiple compressor stall while firing rockets at night from a hover. The Instructor set it down with the only damage being the sheared tail rotor drive train from the compressor stall surges. Didn't vary more than 3 degrees in heading as he was setting it down.

well, almost

i was doin a sim engine faliur <sp> when everything looked good so i SMOOTHLY added power to go around and i got a very stuttery response. so my though was thank god i already set it up for this. pulled the mix lever out about an inch and it fired right up. was a HOT a$$ day in oklahoma.
