crash landed flying freight! A summer night back in 1999 in a Piper Turbo Lance. Engine quit on takeoff out of BVT. I landed it on a farm field. I was in the hospital for a week with a sprained ankle. I am verrrry lucky and am thankful everyday for it. Oh the cause was a piston that cracked inside the cylinder.

Never landed out in a glider, always made it back to airport pavement in the powered versions. Of course, I get to fly with guys that put the Ronald McDonald Statue on the panel before takeoff so that's gotta mean something.

At my old 135 job, there was guy that ran out of fuel and landed in a farm field in a Navajo. The 135 owner got a fuel truck out there and put some gas in and flew the plane back to "home 40". I didn't see this happen, but the hearsay birdie told a little story.
