Much like the controllers with Washington (Regan) National, I still and always will refer to ATL as the William B. Hartsfield International Airport in PA announcements, and ATC conversation.

For me it's now "Hartsfield Stonewall Jackson International"

If the Reverend Doctor Carol Mosely Sharpton doesn't like it, she can keep my share of the Reparation Money.

Bling Bling

To the family of the late Mayor Maynard Jackson, please take note of the following words of a class act, Nancy Reagan:

"When our country chooses to honor a great President such as Franklin Roosevelt by placing his likeness on our currency, it would be wrong to remove him and replace him with another," she said. "It is my hope that the proposed legislation will be withdrawn."

"While I can understand the intentions of those seeking to place my husband's face on the dime, I do not support this proposal and I am certain Ronnie would not," the former first lady said in a statement released Friday.

That's all I have to say.

Jesse Jackson shouldn't say crap about pilots saying the name of the airport incorrectly. He is a Democrat and thus, an ALPA supporter through and through.

The funniest part of all of this is that 99% of the people I've talked to think it was named for Andrew Jackson or Stonewall Jackson.

They say "It's the South, right, I figured it was Andrew Jackson".

Guess their little plan backfired a bit.

It's a lot like how they changed Lake Hartwell (about a hunnert miles north of Hotlanta on I85) to Lake Strom Thurmond several years back. And Thurmond wasn't even dead yet!

Most people just ignored the change.

Maybe I'm a bit confused, but wasn't Jackson's administration know for its corruption?

Actually it was Clark's Hill Lake and Dam that was changed to Strom Thurmond Lake and Dam. Those of us on the Georgia side still refer to it as Clarks Hill, or STD for giggles. Them crazy South Carolinians call it Thurmond Lake.

Yes, at the time the bids were going out for the then new terminal complex's concessions, his wife was the director of a company that was coincidentally formed to put uneducated and unemployed locals into service positions at the new terminal. The bids were submitted, and amazingly enough, her company won the bid. This is just one that I know of and can easily recall, I know there are more but just can't remember the details.
