Just got asked this on a interview,

"What would you say to a pax who complained to you after the flight that you made a terrible landing?"

What's the best answer for this from all the Captains who have been around the block a few times.

"It wasn't MY fault, or HIS fault, it was the ASPHAULT....." They love that crap at interviews.....!!!!

Bye Bye---General Lee:rolleyes: ;)

stop eating mac d!!:p

If I'd been flying with the guy all month, I'd pick on him. The humor usually makes it easier to get over. If it was my first time with the guy, I'd be quiet.
One day I'm going to make a bad landing, just to see what it's like!:D

Tell them that you tried to pay for the "landing" portion of your training, but because of whore pilots like mesa and jet blue, starting wages are so low in the airlines that the banks wouldn't loan you enough money to pay for all of your training solely based on your inability to repay them with your future "earnings".

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

ben
for most of what i have read about what you said i have agreed with to some degree, but after you took a shot at mesa you can go fu*k yourself. it may not be the best but im sure its not the worst. you are not stating the obvious by staying we dont make that much. find something original to bitch about when it comes to mesa.

So you are letting your emotions get in the way of the facts?

How can you agree with me, but when I include Mesa(your gang colors) you get angry just because I mentioned them?

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

i agreed with what you have said about pft and the scab thing in this thread. general conversation about training and what not, not about attacking airlines themselves. my colors didnt change at all, im just not about talking sh!t about other airlines like you just did.

That's just it, it wasn't "sh!t".... it is fact that mesa's (and others) low wages are harming other ALPA carriers' abilities to get a decent offer on the negotiating table.

Sorry for you to have to thrash Mesa here, but it sure is hard to get a payraise when most everyone else is willing to do THE SAME JOB for less and less money.

Why does everyone want to bash on PFT when it happened 6+ years ago?? Airlines like yours and Jet blue are performing this flying NOW, TODAY, and TOMORROW for less money.

PFT argument =dead.

SAME WORK for LOWER WAGES = CURRENT.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

i agree with you one pft thing. i wasnt at mesa when the contract was signed, but what i have read and heard from pilots here is that basically management had all the balls in there court and they had to give in on a lot of things to make sure that another freedom doesnt happen. in a few years when its time to renegotiate a new contract dont think for a minute its going to be us (pilots) taking it in the a$s again. as far as screwing the industry i think it was already screwed and the mesa contract probably didnt help. there is no point in crying over spilt milk you just dont need to constantly bring it up. you dont have to work under the contract like we do.

mesa screwing the industry=dead

You know, I wouldnt even let ben franklin, get to you. There is one in every crowd. Its pretty funny. I was flying with a guy last week that had the pay scales for all of the regionals. And to my shock ( not ) mesa wasnt the lowest out there. The thing is, is that, people dont like to see there jobs in danger. Many dis-like southwest, For the same reason people dis-like Mesa. It just so happens, the mesa makes a buck or 2 less than some of the other compaines. Its pretty funny everyone says oh look at comair. Well it was a pre 9-11 contract. And they had big daddy delta with the deep pockets to help them get that nice pay raise. Well that could all change soon anyway. Mesa was post 9-11, with 2 sinking ships, US, AND HP. Yes I know we dont make the most, but we diffently dont make the least. Noone likes us because we cause disruption, just like southwest does. I just work the company, I dont make the decsions, So why dont you do us all a big favor and get the hell of all of our backs.

Tell them the last time you looked at your paycheck stub, there wasn't a column labeled "GOOD LANDINGS."

or

Ask them if they have ever driven their car using their knees. When they say yes, say, "Well I was trying to land the plane that way."

"What would you say to a pax who complained to you after the flight that you made a terrible landing?"

That was the only way to wake up the FO.

"What would you say to a pax who complained to you after the flight that you made a terrible landing?"

I'd tell them thank you for flying American Eagle, welcome to Puerto Rico, and a bus will be along shortly to take them to the terminal.

And everyone else can go back to the original post.....B. F'n E what's the story....you flippin' out man??

I would not allow this guy to get under your skin He is probably just a tad p!ssed off that with over 6000 hours TT, a "bought job", he is stuck and he ain't goin anywhere anytime soon. Take his comments at face value. Most of the Mesa guys I know get a kick out of guys like this.

Ben, would it make you feel any better knowing that many Mesa guys in recent times have went to AWA, ATA, AirTran, SWA, JB, etc ?? (they moved on)

bye bye

Ben,
You are a regional pilot. The more Jets Coex has the less mainline jets there are. You are flying for less money than them and most other regionals I might add. I know it's an old contract; so is CHQ's and Mesa's. ( Comming up on a year). Tell me the RJ's with the winglets are not doing mainline routes. Do the pilots a coex make mainline rates on those routes? SCAB! Scatch that scab comment. That is something you would say. Your not a Scab; your just a bitter Dumba$$.

...SWA

So paying Flight Safety for an SIC letter in the BE-1900, E-120 or ATR-42 makes me a scab, but paying Flight Safety for a B-737 type rating makes me a hero?

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

Not a hero, Mr. Franklin, just a wise investor. I'd say the rate of return on the money you spent at FSI to fly that Beech 1900 isn't quite as high <snicker> as that of the B737 type if you get a job at SWA.

Wise invester hu? I'd say the 10K I spent in 97 (when most were chargeing for training BTW) was the wisest investment I've ever spent. Had I been hired 2-3 years later and saved the 10K I would have lost out on probably 150K over the last 7 years.

That being said, It is up to us so see that those who follow will not have to endure such burdens as we have. Something we have done in our new contract......whenever that gets signed.
