Today there was a nasty isolated hailstorm in FL and it damaged some planes, just wondering what they have to do to fix them. Replace the whole wings and tail or pop the dents? What is the guideline for how many dents there can be on the upper surface and how big they can be.

Funny you should ask, I was idly thinking the same thing the other night as I climbed in one of our hail dinged MU-2's, and I mean DINGED ! This thing looks like a golf ball on steroids, seriously though, I would say it has about 1 bad hail ding per square foot, each one is a 1/16th inch deep with a diameter of about an inch or so, pretty bad no?
Couldn't find any hail info myself and the DOM didn't see a problem and she flies just fine, I'm guessing when you're short, fat an' heavy an' you got no wing, then any little thing that helps energize the boundary layer can't be bad right ?
