Gear was pinned and as a result could not be retracted. Airplane was topped off with fuel prior to departure and landed overweight driving the gear throught the wing.

Bet that's one f/o that's in the soupline now....

Thanks for the info.

Yeah the F/O might be in the soup line but the captain will never get another Gulfstream job ! Oops ! Knock on wood.

A good remedy

We remedied this mistake by having one pilot pull the pins and place them on the steps. The other pilot counts them and puts them away.

Just remember guys the minute we think it can't happen to us is the minute we shouldn't get too cocky...

Having rituals on things like gearpins is great, but I bet it was somewhere on the checklist.

Im not knocking it, I,m just saying nobody can be to careful.

I hate to see a plane like that get trashed.

One question, Does a G-V not have fuel dump?

LR25

Yes it does.

If it didnt I would have flown to TEB with the gear down and saved the embarrasment and maybe stopped along the way as fuel burned off

GIV's and GV's do not have fuel dumping. There are procedures for making over weight landings however. It woulda taken a real hard landing to drive the gear through the wing, even when overweight.

Good Luck to the crew of that flight,
