I love how the CA says "these pilots show up to GA with an entire 90 days of training complete". Woooo, excuse me, an entire summer

EIGHT bucks? A FLIGHT HOUR? About $700 a month by my math. Wow. I got paid $15 an hour flight instructing...........20 years ago. What a sad industry this has become.

Too bad the reporter didn't come back with "pilots are only allowed to work 80 or so hours per month while a min wage worker getting 120 hours per month, so your pilots are actually getting less than minimum wage, something like $5+/hour. Do you think that is enough?"

Unfortunately, that mentality is widespread at different levels in this industry. None of us with few exceptions, are getting the compensation we deserve. Most companies stretch the rules to the limit at one time or another. All in the name of the bottom dollar. Safety is always a dinstant second I'm afraid.

The Lorenzo mentality is well and alive. The Walmartization of this industry continues full force. I hope those uninformed souls at GA find a better place to spend their 30 grand. Places as such, and the people that attend them have become enablers of this corrupt system.

The poor guys that got video taped. Now the world knows there faces, and that they are the w************************* of a whored out industry

They deserve it!!!! Anyone who paid for their job should be ashamed and ridiculed by the rest of us who believe that it is a "job" when they pay you!

You think thats bad...how bout the fact that these first officers are not employees of the airline, therefore they are not covered under the contract. Meaning there is no guarentee. They fly five trips a month worth four hours each, they only get paid for those 20 hours that month!!!!! And I dont think there is a lot flying to go around down there right now. The two guys interviewed in this piece are both ******************************bags. I cant believe they are the face of the company.

How do you figure? I went to college got a degree and a minor, flight instructed there and got a job at a horrible FBO/flight school in PWK. How is that different than working at any other flight school. Now go get Jims Dick out of your mouth and sit on it. Also, did I pay to instruct in a sundowner, No. Did I get paid to instruct, Yes. Did I leave with the benefit of knowing that every day I showed up Jim would cry cause his wussy ass was too afraid to even see half of us there. Comapring a FBO to GIA is like comparing your sick affection for Jim to my hatred for JIm

Oh, you're hurting PFT_128's feelings.
Plus, he's still paying off Cooper. He was doing the alternative payment plan, but he wore out his knee pads on the ALPA guys.

Wow... just wow. "90 days of instruction!" I think he actually believes the bullsht he's saying. About the only person I'd pay to put on one of their airplanes is Osama Bin Laden and/or Tom Cruise.

Notice at 2:53 where he says there is no evidence that they changed the times "making a pilot illegal who would have otherwise been legal." They changed the times so that an illegal pilot would be legal. He was telling the truth.

What the Gulfstream Academy does is no different than how the military puts 22 year olds with a grand total of 220 hrs in the right seat of a C-17 or C-10. I'd be willing to bet that Academy pilots have more time and experience than their military comprades flying in their C-17 or F-14 and I would venture to guess Gulfstreams program is just as grueling as military pilot training. You won't see the news reporting about 22 yrs olds flying a C-17 with 100 people in the back though. Poor Gulfstream is getting put down uneccesarily here.

Military flight training is a bit more rigorous than civilian flight training, even at Gulfstream. Additionally, the screening of candidates is a bit more rigorous as well.

So, you're really comparing apples to oranges here, Idude.

Then add to that the hours you actually do work but don't get paid for and you're down to maybe $4 an hour or less.

not to mention that you don't have to shell out your own money for military training.
