Could anyone tell me a ballpark $ figure for a new-hire G V captain based around Boston?

Private owner, no prior GV time.

Thanks.

I guess I should read the 1st post a little closer. I would guess, given your G-IV expirence and region of the country around $130-140K.

Is this an airplane upgrade or new owner/aircraft? You might have a tougher time for a salary increase just because your boss got a new toy.

ahhh looks like he finally traded up. :)

As one bostoner to another-

Around boston means. Southie, combat zone, backbay, fenns, cambridge, north end.

Anything outside that is a different state.

Diesel,

You're dating yourself. Combat Zone has been gone for a while:smash: !

Mr. I.

WHAT?! Where'd all the strip bars go? :( TC

You might want to explain that to the guys wearing the hoodies on downtown crossing.

The combat zone isn't gone, it's just gotten smaller.

I've had some interesting experiences walking through there at 3am to get "Cold Tea".

I consider a good day going home when I don't get mugged on the T.

That sound pretty low. How about 150-160K for starters.

I know a few GV jobs in the NY metro area that went at 135K-140K to start. This was in the last 6 months. I dont know about bonuses, stock, etc...

experienced Intl guys, I think all were GV rated.

I have not heard of 160K to start...but then again I dont know the 250-300K pilots that seem aplenty here also...

Do you know people making that to start?

That must be top of the range.
Ya, actually I do. Most GV operators are already very well qualified. For someone to leave a good GV job to start a new GV job, you have to pay the piper.

On the other hand there are some San Jose, CA based computer companies that start there new hire GV pilots out at $70K:eek: .

Unfortunately in this industry, your new job can easily be filled by some "genius" for $30K, only you know what your own worth is.

Good luck.

I know of a couple of GV guys in the North East that started at $150K plus options and bonus.

Whoa! What are they flying?

I wonder if they know it takes a Legacy captain FIVE years to make that much?

Last time I talked to anyone in the extreme NW they all had to be typed in the G-V before getting hired ... who knows what they make though ... that is all strictly confidential with threats of lawyers and all. ;)

I was thinking more about the SFO area than the NW. I am sure that we are not that high for a un-typed walk in. We have typed guys from scratch but of course they had lots of experience in other heavy bizjets. I just happen to know of a few GV positions down in the bay area that are up for grabs and that where I was coming from.

ahh yeah....the Bay Area...would LOVE to live there but one is not going far on 170K when a 1500sft house on 1/8 acre goes for 750K.

ouch.

Living in a cheap apartment with a wife and 2 kids. Awesome, where can I sign up... Just the other day I was offered 80K to captain a Hawker 800XP based out of IAD. Yeah right... Just for kicks I ran the salary calculator and 80K in central NC equates to 120K in the IAD area.

Yes, I have seen a couple of guys decline job offers in the bay area for just that reason. If you aren't already living there and own a home to boot, it becomes almost impossible to move in. I think an adustment might be in the works!

ME TOO! I almost jumped on a similar job as you describe a few years ago....then dug a little deeper and saw it was a revolving door b/c if you had a family and wanted a house you had to live 2+ hrs away! I think for a single guy or young couple who didnt mind apartment life it would be great.

Too bad because I personally think the bay area is about as nice as it gets!...

although a bit North I hear its pretty also.....aside from the wacky politicians!

 ;)
