A friend just went through transition on the 550. He loves it. It has some minor engine mods and the avionics are as advertised--awsome. There are still some avionics teething problems, though.

He gave me his fold out panels. Pretty cool. It raises situational awareness to a new level. I also saw the CD on the EVS(FLIR) system. Now, that's cool!

The V type will be good for the 550 with a transition class. The 550 type will be good for the 450 without the class, I believe.

You guys are too much! Full functionality for the new avionics suite, i.e. all the magic, probably won't be available until about sn 5035, but that's a Honeywell issue, not a Gulfstream one. The airplane's ready, it's just waiting on a software load.

Every aircraft has growing pains. Bar none. I remember the Brake by Wire problems on the G4 and the Hyd pumps on the G5. I also remeber the F900 APU problems when it first came out and the F2000 with the motors that blow up.

The CL600/601 list is too long for the page.

The one thing I can tell you is I have never been stuck on the road with a Gulfstream. Knock on wood. In all the years I've been flying, you can count the times the aircraft has let me down on one hand.

I was always a little suspicious until I remembered that the whole "I'm a pilot" thing is about as useful as a fresh bottle of Aqua Velva when it comes to the opposite sex. That being said , I'll be glad to give the 900EX line a whirl if it holds water.

Uugghh... Just got back from Europe... 3 cities in 4 days and not one with high speed internet!
