Just saw a picture of the Gulfstream 550 flight deck - one word: WOW! Unbelievable glass cockpit...

So, who are the lucky pilots who will be able to fly this Space Shuttle-like airplane? Which companies have ordered this latest GV version? Has EJI ordered it?

Definitely envious...

Say what? Easy there BRO.

Bye Bye--General Lee:D

The first G500, with the same cockpit, was delivered to "United States Aviation", Tulsa (N1HC)

I believe that the first G550s are for Kuwait Airways (N550GA, s/n 5002) and "G5 Executive" (HB-IGM, s/n 5004) in Switzerland, and Grand Warehouse Inc. (N550GW, s/n 5006).

The new G450 shares the same cockpit too.

Looks like the end of the G300/400...sad!

I know of quite a few companies that are ordering them. The big disadvantage is that the cockpit is so different from the G5.

Awesome aircraft to fly. A little dishearting to look down and see 14 hours to go on the FMS. I my butt doesn't like to see that.

But...
The best part about the aircraft is the repositions. HPN-PHL or PBI to MIA. With min fuel the aircraft is the closest thing to a rocketship that I will ever fly.

Heck, the G550 has a way more advanced cockpit than the Space Shuttle!

G4G5,

Has your company ordered a G550? Do you currently fly a Gulfstream with the new flight deck?

I would love to fly something that advanced one day... Hopefully soon if I can catch a break...

Any one know if FS at ILG will be getting any of the sims with this type panel? Sure look nice:D
The only "Gulfstream" sims at ILG are the old Israeli Aircraft Industry aircraft (Astra) type "Gulfstreams" (i.e. G-100 / G-200)... Neither employ the G450/500/550 panel...

dunno Capt, I think the BBQ is frying your brain...or maybe its those midwest winters!!!!

I THINK..

ILG had the old Isreali stuff (westwind astra)
they also have at least one GIVsp and now have the BBD-700 (Im sure of that one!!)
they built a new wing on that nasty old building.

G200 is only in DFW. (speaking of BBQ)

Alright, what do I know anyhow! The Global doesn't have the G-550 avionics... It is like the older G-V avionics...

Only Im 100% sure of is the Global. Sim is up and running.

First class is April 8th.

I was just down in Wilmington two weeks ago.

They have a G5 sim, not a 550. It's up an running.

They also have a Global sim that is currently getting certified, classes start in March.

Currently I am flying a two year old G4sp, very nice but not a 550.

No it isn't. The Global has 8 inch displays, the old GV had 9 inch displays.

And since you asked - according to AW&ST's Business and Commercial Aviation, the Global still is plagued with significant problems integrating their autothrottles, mysterious battery drain if the batteries are not disconnected, an APU that locks up ion the ramp in certain atmospheric conditions, and unavailability of parts. The article goes on to say that while Bombardier has not backed away from their 6400nm range claims, most operators do not feel comfortable flying it beyond 5800nm.

GV

ya know....
come to think of it...

the Gulfstream is the only airplane that ever starts in the morning!!. Nothing else compares....

then again this is the guy who tells us that the G200 is a good, reliable aircraft!!!

all in good fun...

I wouldn't mind trading the 900ex for a GV myself!!

A friend just went through transition on the 550. He loves it. It has some minor engine mods and the avionics are as advertised--awsome. There are still some avionics teething problems, though.

He gave me his fold out panels. Pretty cool. It raises situational awareness to a new level. I also saw the CD on the EVS(FLIR) system. Now, that's cool!

The V type will be good for the 550 with a transition class. The 550 type will be good for the 450 without the class, I believe.

Hoping to get on board soon... TC

fire-duck-roll

I heard a Falcon pilot say once if Gulfstream made the wing right the first time they wouldn't have had to add the winglets. :D
