Since when is the CG "miltary"?

DOT.
They are still considered part of the armed forces, they have weapons, a military rank structure and chain of command, they had/have coasties serving over in the gulf...that's enough to qualify for me.

Dang!

For real?

Do they wear uniforms too? Do they have to salute each other and stuff...or are they like the Air Force?

(My previous post was a Nerf-jab at my brother Naval Aviators)

Actually DHS now. And yes they are part of the military.

I think that is what you meant.

FJ

Just keeping it fun of course.

DHS = Department of Homeland Security. Been in that for a couple of years now. Used to be DOT. Still subject to the UCMJ and carrying an active duty ID card.

Please...

Can't we all just get along?!

You're new to aviation, huh? This is getting along!

I was mistaken in my belief that the USCG was still part of the DOT. It is now another segment of the Department of Homeland Security....along with FEMA and the TSA.

Inter-service rivalry is all-in-fun stuff. We're all proud of our affiliation, skills, and comrades. The bottom line is we are all brothers-in-arms and share that kinship above all. Yes...chicks too! It's still amusing to point out differences and use them as ammo for ribbing.

You're in-line for a fun time and a challenge. Good luck!

Oh yeah...."Plane Guard" and SAR drivers never pay for the beer when they're with me!

Congrats on San Fran. It is a great airstation. You will love it. I probably won't be here anymore when you come through your T-course but I will make sure you get the special treatment. I will also put in a good word for you with the Command at San Fran. I will really be hooking you up.

Thanks... you have already helped me and I appreciate it. I was told I will be there in min July.. just in time for hurricane season.

I am looking forward to it all. Is the course in the C model, since that is what San Fran will be flying?
