It's official - ASA SLC crew base will close at the end of this year. Currently being announced in the SLC crew "lounge" (ie: smelly cave).

Sorry, should've done that considering the length of time it's been a rumor.
Source: Senior VP of Inflight in the SLC lounge

Also transferring 13 70 seaters to SKYW.

An acceptable Commuter Clause just became a strike issue.

:rolleyes:Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it! They are just trying to SCARE our pilot group as we get closer to the "compensation" portion of our contract!!! The skywst pilots can CHOKE on those 70 seaters as far as I am concerned!!! Hope that they are proud of themselves and their "weak ASS" One RATE!!

Thats life my friend. Thats also a waste of ammo on your contract. Any base could close at any time. ATL looks quite safe though. Just ask military guys how often they have to move. We are not the only job that can require lots of relocation. Hell CVG could close even some day who knows anymore.

Any word yet on if they'll be another base for the artists formerly known as "Candler?" Or are we going to be one big happy family in the ATL? If so, somebody better make sure Standy-by Suzie running the ramp gets on the right meds!

Nope all 160 or so planes will be Crammed into that little space in ATL. The upgrade just went from 5 years to a good 6 or 7. Probably won't hire anyone for a while due to losing all the 70s in SLC to SKYW. 900's are going to SKYW also they are going to Operate a Viritual base in ATL to fly 70s and up. ASA will be a 50 seat only Airline and the number of planes are about to drop. I can't understand why anyone would come to this hole?

:rolleyes:Cooper...would you go back to sleep. You are so full of crap that it makes me sick. You are probably another mgmnt jackass with waaaay too much time to waste on the computer!

Where did you get that?
13 700's to Skywest and 18 900's to ASA

Just got done with a trip. Fred and Scott were on the bus and told us the SLC base WILL be closed. There is no official notice yet, but it is the truth. I think Scott was saying there were only 29 departures a day, not enough to support a base. He also said we are getting around 12-15 705. Don't quote me on all the 705 figures but SLC will be closed. I am sorry for all the people who moved to SLC and now have to come to ATL. Good luck to all.

True that. May God have mercy on all of us who've had to move to Atlanta (past, present and future!)

This is the rumor I heard today...

SLC will close around the end of the year.
13 705s to be delivered to ASA
All SLC-based 700s to be transferred to SkyWest

They were saying it would pretty much be a 1-for-1 swap. However, all the ASA SLC pilots and FAs get screwed while SkyWest gets some more growth at our expense. Not to mention the lower half of the ATL 700 list that will most likely get bumped down to the 200, resulting in a pay cut.

I also would not be surprised to see SkyWest pilots flying through ATL as well, considering that most of the SLC trips had a substantial amount ATL flying.

Hope you SkyWest guys enjoy flying our airplanes. Take good care of them.

Look who’s talking, what a hypocrite. You sir are the one that needs to spend less time on the computer. By the way, YOU are not going to burn this place down, YOU are lucky Skywest BOUGHT YOU and not MESA. People like you have soooo much anger in you that you just cant see what you have. I feel for you.

Maybe some of thse old bastards on the 70 will retire or at least go to another airline. I can't believe some people make ASA a career.

MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Anger

Yeah, putting the blame on pilots instead of management should work out for you some day.

Good luck with your bitterness. ASS

Go ScabWest I'm glad that you will get to fly all of those 70 seaters for 50 seat rates enjoy it. I'm glad you can sleep at night knowing that you're 1 step short of a scab. Enjoy, and I mean it.

Hey at least you guys got bought by skywest. It could always be worse you couldve been drug into bankruptcy like we were then you wouldnt even be talking new contract.

Wow, Jerry is going to have his hands full with labor issues shortly. He has done nothing but piss on the ASA folks since the purchase and with ALPA courting the SKYW guys now, it is only a matter of time. I see the good relationship with employees and the great corporate culture of SKYW deteriorating into what all other airlines have. I think the ASA purchase was a good thing for the guys looking at growth and money, but a very poor decision in the long run due to the poor morale that the whole deal is creating. In the long run upset employees will cost more than the money they are making by owning ASA. Looks like Jerry has finally turned into just another airline CEO.

Wow you have got to be kidding!! Piss on the ASA folks?? Yea saving them from bankruptcy court is really being malicious!! Again look what happened to us at comair!! I swear the ASA pilot group is just one pissed off group that wouldnt be happy making 200k/yr with 18 days off/month. They should be thanking skywest for saving them and actually still having the chance to even negoiate for a new deal. A previous poster said apparently there weren't enough departures to sustain a base. Its senseless to keep it a crew base if its not logical money wise. You don't want your profitable airline to become unprofitable do you? Then you wouldn't even have the profitable argument to fart in the wind with.

D'Angelo- You better check the tension on your braids, it's f'ing with your perspective. And, you sound like a company bitch. So, change your avatar to Tawana Brawley. Feel free to activate the ebonics translator.

Adam- Where should we go? Last I checked the industry was in the toilet. Lots of folks on the street with high times. I am thankful for what I have right now but while I am at ASA I will fight for the best contract!!

This just needed to be reposted. Misguided anger can be very detrimental to everyone. Guess what, management decides what/where/how many we fly. Think pilots can buy airplanes? Ask D'Angelhoe about how well that works out (I'd imagine he'd be happy to crawl out from under FB's desk after the "happy ending" and let you know). We ALL knew the whipsaw would start whipping as soon as the folks in Utah said they wanted to keep two separate airlines (flying the same equip on overlapping routes!!). Think about it!!! We need to work TOGETHER with the Skywest pilots. I realize this is especially hard for our pilot group after being stabbed in the back by Lawson and his Comair cronies, but there is NO other way! For all my fellow ASA pilots, would you have said "no, I won't fly those ex-Coex planes" if they had showed up on our ramp? Maybe some of you would have, but I bet most of you would have jumped right in. So why would you fault the pilots at Skywest for doing the same thing? Don't get me wrong, this really, really sucks, but this is the business we have chosen. It is a very dirty game, and nobody plays fair. And for those of you at Skywest who think this is a great deal for you, just wait. The whipsaw goes both ways and we'll all end up covered in blood before it's all over if we don't get on the same page, and soon!
