That did seem to be the implication.
My post said don't just prepare for a checkride.

If you are doing outside preparation before diving into one of those courses, what I said doesn't apply.

It still says "Flight Instructor" on the certificate.

...not "Flight Instructor that prepared for a checkride only".

Passing a CFI checkride isn't about being able to perform maneuvers to commercial PTS standards. The PTS says for every task "instructional knowledge". You can't fake your way through it.......well I don't want to say that. I'd hope you can't fake your way through it. But I'm sure there are DPEs out there that get enough CFI applicants and just want their money that some people can fake their way through it.

Eh I dunno...I've done two rides in FL and used the same examiner, and hes known as an easy one....

I feel I've been lucky with the easyness of the checkrides I've taken. I was always prepared, but I'd still prefer to go with an "easy" examiner if possible.

I think I could have busted my CMEL ride if I had a tough DE who was having a bad day....

pinkslip pinkston in FLL. No pushover.. You must know your $hit

I hope your kidding about Pinkston, had him for II and MEI and I thought he was going to fall asleep in the plane.

I would NOT recommend going to American Flyers - you will spend far more than the advertised price and will probably take longer than the advertised 30 days. Although the ground school portion of the program is very good, the flight training was sub-par and I'd spend usually upwards of 40 mins of my "flight time" waiting to take off. American Flyers also charges you for every small thing - from signing your logbook to the training manuals they hand you on the first day that are pointless. I spent over $7000 in costs there and was not happy at all. If you have the money and time and want a top-notch ground program, perhaps you might want to consider them, but if I had to do it all over again I'd do ATP.
