Company: Anyone who will let you have a coastal base.

Also, don't forget the hallowed and time honored tradition of the surf trip. You might not live somewhere where it's good, but you can always take a trip there. The locals could be a problem, but not if you show up there enough--they don't need to know that you live hundreds of miles away.
