A bit off topic, however . . .

Amazon Kindle is the best thing to happen for avid readers who are also avid travelers. I can't say enough good things about it . .. it's overpriced, to be sure, but I love the damn thing.

Biggest problem: I've spent more on books in the past 6 months than I have in the past 5 years combined (and Kindle books are WAY cheaper than the non-virtual version).

FYI

Black, White and Blue - The history of adult cinema in mainstream culture.

Awesome little book!

-Anything by Dennis Lehane
-Reefer Madness & Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser
-Dixieland Delight by Clay Travis (if you're an SEC football fan)
-The Ferrol Sams trilogy (if you grew up in the South)
-A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
-Dry by Augusten Burroughs (if you're a drinker)
-Crazy in Alabama and One Mississippi by Mark Childress (again... best enjoyed if you grew up in the south)
-The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers
-Angel of Darkness and The Alienist by Caleb Carr
-Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer by Warren St. John (Again... SEC football)
-Wisdom of Our Fathers by Tim Russert (better if you're a Dad)
-1 Dead in Attic by Chris Rose (Katrina memoir.. extremely moving)
-Generaton Kill by Evan Wright (Iraq)
-One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick (Iraq)
-The entire Kinky Friedman mystery series
-1776 by David McCullough

Those are a few of the highlights of what I've read this year plus a few of my all time favorites that I reread year after year.
