I have a number of friends @ MESA and I would have to say the majority of these guys are great. That company is fragmented into three layers, with the pilots and station management are at the bottom. The latest news is that the chief is making the pilots now register the company memos in the company GOM. Things might be getting strange over at MESA but dont blame the guys flying the line or servicing them.

What about FJ?

What should I think of the guys in the CRJ700's with the N-Number ending in "FJ". If it's what I think it is (Freedom Jet) I have my one fingered response. However, before I send my "greeting", do any legitimate Union Mesa guys operate them?

Yes, they do. We Mesa types often refer to the two groups as Freedom A (the initial pre-contract, pre-ALPA approved pilot group) and Freedom B (the post-contract, team player, Mesa union guys). They both fly those FJ aircraft and they both carry a Freedom ID. However, Freedom is now and has been for a while very rapidly evaporating. All the Freedom A guys are getting reassimilated into the one big happy family seniority list, and Freedom as a separate company will soon be no more. That's probably the biggest thing that this board's Mesa bashers conveniently forget. Yeah, our contract sucks, but it sucks for a very good reason.

Sorry, but when one group makes it so much harder for the rest of us why should we? The Freedom air excuse is BS. Ornstien could not have gotten Freedom up and running fast enough to avert a strike. The bottom line is they caved and caved hard, thus making it that much harder for everyone else in the industry.

How sad is it that they signed such a great contract that they need to come on my airplane and ask for left-over meals.

I, personally, enjoy watching all you guys get so bent out of shape about mesa.

I could try and convince you of the truth or explain the circumstances of our contract negotiations but it would fall on deaf ears.

so, I'm gonna sit here kick back:cool:

and watch you guys get all bent

p.s. read my screen name again
were taking over the world!!!!

HOw proud you must be that your taking the world by paying your 2nd year FO's 26K and 3rd year captains 52K a year. I know all about the contract and freedom and the threats. Guys like you are the reason the pilots in this industry are treated the way they are.

Guys like you are proud that your CEO has done everything on the backs of the ones he counts on. You should be proud. And when Air Whiskey and ACA have to take consessions or loose thier flying are you then proud? ANd when CHQ and Mesaba and Skywest are handed sh1tty deals and told to take it because Mesa will undercut us so much, are you proud?

And when you come to my airplane to ask for left over meals, do you look at me with pride for your airline? Or do you feel ashamed that you cannot afford to buy yourself lunch?

that's what chatauqua pilots said. that and "comair plus 15!"

yet the denials continue. that's right, your growth isn't because you're cheaper than everyone else; it's because you run such a rockin' airline.

not everyone who signs on at mesa knows what they're getting into at first. we're all some combination of young, dumb, and lustful at some point in our lives. but to keep living in fantasy land after seeing the light is pathetic.

enjoy your 'career.'

my comments are designed to piss off all the mesa bashers

no love for the haters!

go away pickle, ya bother me!!:D

Yeah, nice job on the scope there, guys. You stopped a tiny carrier from stealing some of your flying that could have been stopped by a strike before it got out of hand. Now you are a large carrier stealing flying, wages, and work rules from everyone else in the industry. You (MESA) are the third world country our careers are being exported to. You still proud?

Pickle and other Mesa haters:
I would like to know your opinion on what you think of the MAA rates that just ruined every ENTIRE regional contract out there. Freedom pay rates were higher than what the U MEC negotiated for their furloughed brothers. Duane Woerth didn't sign the CCAIR contract saying that it was too concessionary and then he turns around and signs one that is even worse for MAA. Wake up!!! Learn who the real "traitors" are in this industry.

crj579,

You're right. The MAA rates are even a bigger disgrace then Mesa. I almost choked when I saw them the first time. However, MAA will only steal flying from U mainline. I guess it's justice done since the same clowns who authorized this travesty will be the ones losing the most.

At first I was upset at the MESA pilots for signing such a crappy contract, but in retrospect, I wasn't there and it is easy for those of us who work at other carriers to bash them so easily without walking in there shoes under the threat of Free-dumb.

As for the Free-dumb A list, thanks for starting the downward spiral for regional contracts and enjoy working for MESA FOR THE REST OF YOUR AIRLINE CAREER!

Now where did that Free-dumb list go?

_________

well you see we blame them because they voted on their futures. They knew what they were voting on and how it would affect everyone else. And believe it or not they overwhelmingly voted YES.
Who praytell should we blame??

Well are you asking me or telling me?

I am very disapointed with the MAA rates. But lets look at the causes and associated economics. The current economic situation does not bode well for Airways.

This is a last ditch effort. Anyone can see that buy selling off assets that generate revenue, and starting up MAA that COST them money.....well I don't think they'll make it.

SO why did they sign for those rates. Simply stated, Airways is actually competing with themselves. If they had signed higher rates the company would have given the flying to the Express carriers. IE MESA. So in a since once again, the rates that Mesa signed screwed everyone again.

They are not the only ones however they were the hole in the daamn. Now the flood gates are open. What Mesa has done to the industry is discusting. You guys had the chance to stop Ornstien. He is a maniacle evil man, that will be the end of many pilots carriers.

But you have that shinny 90 seat airplane don't you.

I certainly hope Aiyways makes it, but if it doesn't hopefully it will take MESA with it, and will end the scorge. Wait no you guys will probably take concessions and fly for even less.

This is Bullshiit. It is time that people and pilot groups be held accountable. I'm sure they are great guys but by not being held accountable we ,as a industry group, are saying this is ok. BS
