From what I got in an email from G.S., they group people into three groups:
-121,135, mil, lots of turbine from somewhere, interns and other preferential interview groups
-people with greater than 1000/200
-people who meet the 600/100 mins

He said that people in the last group have a very slim chance because they are getting all they need out of the first two groups and mainly the first group. Does this mean dont apply, not at all, but be realistic and dont complain if you dont get a call.

I've heard the same thing, and from what I've seen this is very accurate. I left TSA to come to XJT about 2 weeks ago. Every one of my friends here at XJT had prior 121 experience. However, in my new hire class currently there are a bunch of people with no 121 experience, although I gather it has only been relatively recently that they started hiring CFIs and such. Be that as it may, the typical new hire times are more in the range of 1000-1500TT and total 100-400ME, most with 121 or 135 experience... at least that seems to be the average in my class. There are a few people who were hired right out of CFI'ing, but with higher time. The only guy with low time was a former intern. My advice would be to wait until you have the time, or if you're dying to get out of instructing, apply at TSA or Pinnacle and bail in a few months.

Had 800/100 last may when hired. CFI background, no internship or ALL ATPs. Buddy of mine w/ same background got hired same day with 650/100. My advice is to construct your resume to show 1) you really want to work at XJT, and 2) you have done a few other things in your life besides fly. XJT is one of the few places in which your stuff has to make it through HR before anyone with a pilot certificate sees it, so they sometimes carry other things besides flight time with some weight.

Good luck man.

Thanks, mack.

As soon as I hit mins or get close to it, I figured I'd call HR and ask them if I could send a resume in being close to mins, and then upgrade it as I get the multi time in.
