Scenario, 2 pilots same, same qualifications. One is instrument current the other is not, Can they go up together in IMC and the instrument pilot who is not current, fly and log approaches while under the supervision of the current instrument rated pilot?

How about with a CFII? Does that count as approaches for currency and is the logging of dual instruction received required?
