General, I gotta DELTA Question

I have noticed on 2 of my flights on Delta since January, that there has been a brand new FO on IOE. Both times the captain made an announcement on the PA congradulating the FO's on there first landing. One was a girl I think. Both of these instances were on MD88's. How is this possible to have new people when you have 1040 on the street?

Probably just people bidding off of different equipment. Maybe leaving a certain A/C in a certain base for another A/C in a different base maybe.

Maybe Express guys finally coming out of training????

I would think it's their first landing in an 88. They probably were coming off differrent equipment.

Maybe it's a job security program for those who lost jobs in the front office? I'm sure that's why the CA was so glad to have them aboard!!

Yeah it would just be somebody that hadn't flown the 88 before, thats all....

Maybe we now have "caring Captains...." NOT. I don't know what was said, but if he was joking around---I would say something back on the PA also. And no----we haven't had any new hires in awhile---but maybe they were guys coming back from furlough.....?
