I keep on hearing from management that the "gap" in pay rates has been closed with XJ and NWA, and that we have to lower our rates because of it. I don't know if I am missing something here, but why does there have to be a "gap" in pay rates. It's not like we will be making more than NWA pilots. As long as NWA gets the rates per flight they want, why do they care what we make as pilots? Some of the aspects of this bankruptcy are really wearing on me.

There has to be a gap. A senior NW FA must make what a middle of the road Saab captain does so that the suits can say "look how much we save by having those dirtball commuter pilots fly these city pairs. Let's shift more flying over there."

ALPA also would like the gap to stay a certain percentage. The real pilots in the union can't have their pay spiral down to the levels of the afore mentioned dirtballs. They are professionals for Pete's sake.
