Just looking for rough info to reply to my boss. We're looking at some new planes and he jokingly sent me an ad for a GV. I want some info so I can give him a reply in the same spirit.

Fuel burn for an 80 nm trip.

Guess at cost for midlife inspection.

Cost of brakes.

Thanks

i thought it was pretty funny.

80 nm = approx 20-30-min= 2000-2500lbs

doc for gv= approx 2000 per hr

extensive warranty

tell your boss to pony up 45m and run with the big dogs :)

Ok, I'll bite... Fuel burn first hours is about 4,500 lbs... Now this considers climbing up to FL410 and cruising at Mach 0.85, neither of which you would do on an 80 NM trip... My guess is on an 80 NM trip you will burn somewhere around 1,500 lbs of fuel... You are MUCH better off with your current King Air for this flight... A $40 million airplane to fly 80 NM, not much business sence there...

Here are some G-V fuel burns figuring Mach 0.85 cruise:

1st hour: 4,500 lbs
2nd hour: 3,700 lbs
3rd hour: 3,600 lbs
4th hour: 3,500 lbs
5th hour: 3,400 lbs
6th hour: 3,100 lbs
7th hour: 3,100 lbs
8th hour: 2,800 lbs
9th hour: 2,800 lbs
10th hour: 2,600 lbs
11th hour: 2,600 lbs
12th hour: 2,100 lbs

Here are some G-V fuel burns figuring Mach 0.80 cruise:

1st hour: 4,200 lbs
2nd hour: 3,100 lbs
3rd hour: 3,000 lbs
4th hour: 2,900 lbs
5th hour: 2,700 lbs
6th hour: 2,600 lbs
7th hour: 2,600 lbs
8th hour: 2,500 lbs
9th hour: 2,400 lbs
10th hour: 2,200 lbs
11th hour: 2,200 lbs
12th hour: 2,200 lbs
13th hour: 2,200 lbs
14th hour: 2,200 lbs

Hope this helps...

I'm guessing you haven't flown the V. Take a look at those reserves after a 12 or 14 hour flight at .85M.

Thanks guys, we are definitely sticking with a a turbo prop, 85% of the time we don't break 140 miles. We do a lot of legs though.

Owner sent me an ad being a smart asp . Our budget is in the 3-5 mil range. He emailed an ad of a '99 GV and said if we could get it for 10 mil he's ready to move. just wanted to have a little info for my hope to be hilarious response to him.

Again, boss was joking. I like the idea of telling him if he wants to run with the bigs, the company would want to sport for a NEW plane. Hate to have him looking at someone else's crappy paint job. He was just dreaming a little.

Thanks again for the feedback. I have enough ammo now.

Actually after about 12 hours at .85 it would leave you with somewhere around 3,000 lbs, which is a tad light, but still in the "legal" realm... I got these numbers off a gauge sheet I had handy... If our plane ever shows up, I'll go fly it and get back to you... LOL...

Are you going to be due for your recurrent before the airplane gets there? Can you go to recurrent on an airplane you haven't flown yet? Things that make you go hmmm...

PS - Just ribbing you a little Capt.

3000 seems a bit optimistic to me considering you probably won't get 41,500 lbs of fuel on board. ( i doubt you would have that after 12 hrs @.85- you might have 2k though). from about 11 - 12 hrs i would probably choose .83 and over 12 hrs probably LRC. :)

Actually went back for EVS Training and did an extra "review" sim so we could remember where all the buttons are... Now if I could only remember what they all do... ;)

Yeah, I think I heard if you trip is:

<10 hours - Mach 0.85
10-12 hours - Mach 0.83
>12 hours - Mach 0.80

or something like that...

Fido and I will get back to you all on the 10 & 11 hour burns and at what M.#... In about three weeks! ;) TC

In my 2,000+ hours in the G-V, let me assure you that you will not have 3,000 lbs. of fuel if you fly at .85 for 12 hours. 1,500-2,000 lbs max.

I just did a 14+47 leg in the G550, and landed with 3,300 lbs. of fuel. Mach .80 the entire trip, and finished the trip at FL490. You'll never hear me complaining about a 10 hour leg again.

I don't care how comfy the crew rest is, that's just too da#n long! TC

I know a company which regularly flies their GV on an 86 mile trip! I should try to remember to ask them what their fuel burn is.
