It's compatant and avetar...and why is there a lady jumping out of a ruck sack in yours?
Well, you're pretty good at spotting a misspelled word, but horrible at correcting it. It's actually "competent" and "avatar".

My avatar is a picture of my girlfriend who died a few months back. She had just climbed Mt. Rose in California and her friend turned and caught her with her fists in the air and snapped a pic. The larger version is more touching, I think. www.amykrueger.net

Some countries in Europe don't use checks anymore at all, or only for special occasions.

I heard a rumor that Airnet is buying caravans (up to 10 so far) and trying to get a bigger market share in freight instead of majority checks. Just a rumor, don't know how much weight it holds.

Some countries in Europe are as small as Rhode Island, and as big as Georgia... they'd better have a better program than us, no?

Also, it would be smart of Airnet to switch to freight. The honest truth is that these check runs will go away... it's just a matter of time. It would be wise to switch.

I'm always amazed at the dollar value of the checks hauled around. It's not uncommon to have $10,000,000 worth of checks in a single load.

I tried taking a few bags down to payday check cashing but they said they wouldn't honour it :(

They have had vans for a couple of years now.

You are correct that Airnet is trying to switch to other freight. The Caravan was one of many moves to make that switch. Nothing we had for planes had a cargo door. The last 2 runs I have been on don't/didn't carry any checks and the one before those 2 was only 50% checks. From what I've seen the company is doing a good job with the transition. Other areas could use some work though. But you have probably already heard about that (or will soon).

Each week it seems like my load of non-bank work for airnet increases. Heard from an operations guy that he was having trouble deciding whether to bump bank work or the freight/express work. The other week I was hauling over 1700lbs of work on a couple of legs--no bank. I've only got one leg in the van that's checks and it's a light one. Yes, seems like the transition is going well.

I've never witnessed any problem deciding what work to bump, express work never gets bumped. As for the transition, the financial reports looks like its still about 65-70% checks, declining though as express grows. Come on salesmen!

Fast Forward Solutions

Airnet is actually hedging its check work with a non-flying alternative as well. If you can't beat them, join them.
