Is it really true that Airnet has never furloughed a pilot? Is there relatively true job security in working for them for a career?? I know nothings 100 percent but could one pretty much stay there without fear of being laid off based on there past??

Thanks

I would say "NO" as the check hauling business is slowly going away. Last I heard, Airnet's stock was down due to the anticipated reduction in business. I don't think airmed is going to be enough to hold up their volume.

Well, i would second the "no", but will say that it is a fairly "stable" company that "should" be around for quite awhile even after some of the other bigger players have left. Oh and the answer to your first question would be no, never furloughed.

As far as the stock being down due to the anticipated reduction in business...well that is also a big NO! The stock price took a nosedive a few months back when they took a depreciation hit on thier a/c due to the sale process that failed to go through, and it has just not caught back up to original rates.

I am currently in training at AirNet and recently the CEO came and hung out with us for a bit and some of the stuff we all talked about was the buy-out that didn't happen, the end of the check hauling business, and the changes that are on the horizon for the company..... Truthfully, the conversation made me nervous, but in reality the things that are happening are part of a process that is going to take some time to go through..... Personally, I am wanting to hang around a while and get some Lear time and live a few places, but the good news is that turnover is still relatively high as people get their 1000 hours of multi PIC and move on to other stuff..... So hopefully, whatever happens here at AirNet is still a couple years down the road and there is still time for a FNG like me to develope whatever it is I am here developing..... So, in conclusion, am I nervous? Yes.... But things could be so much worse, I am just happy to be here..... Oh, and they are still interviewing and a new hire class is starting next week, so read into that what you will.....

Geez, my heart nearly stopped when I saw the title of this thread. Don't do that to me. By the sound of it, I thought you had some real insider information or something relevant. Well, better head to work early so I can get the snow off my van.

hey mr pink any idea how big the next class is? are they still runnin 2 per class or is the class size increasing?

Im gonna report to Craig again tomorrow and hopefully he has some good news for me.

WOW!!!!! Biggerstaff actually came and talked to your class...that's pretty damn good...the only time i saw him during my entire 5 1/2 years there was my last few weeks on the line just before our good ole christmas diner...yeah, unfortunately i was in LCK for that one, but thankfully i left just after i finished eating!

As far as the whole they are interviewing and new classes starting goes...I don't read into that at all. Comair was interviewing and starting classes all the way up to their last furlough here not too long ago, and it has happened many other times at other places as well...NEVER think you are safe because of that. Another good example right now is Express Jet...they know they "will most likely" be losing 69 planes here shortly, yet they are still interviewing and hiring people...

Dude, starchkr, you are harshing my mellow..... :bawling: Well, I am definitely keeping it all in the back of my mind, nothing is for certain, but hopefully everything will be cool for the next little while..... Oh, and Flysher, I think that they are doing the 2 guy class thing still..... Good luck when you talk to CW!!!

I don't think that we will ever have to worry about being furloughed at Airnet mainly due to the high turnover rate. The thing that your have to worry about is base closures. As runs change/go away the company closes runs and bases which puts the pilot in limbo until they find another base. It is still a great company to build multi PIC/jet time and you get your type and atp after being in the lear for a year which is a good thing. We will still be here years down the road, but your base may not so don't get too comfortable with a base so it isn't a big deal if it closes.

That's what I am banking on.... and I am living out of a suitcase now anyway, so one base is as good as another.....

MrPink, how about a little more intel on what the big man said. I have been dying to know what their plans are once the check flying business is gone and especially now after the buyout fell through. What is it that made you nervous? Any help for a future-future AirNet hopeful would be appreciated.

This is good news for Airnet, something to keep them making money as banking profits slowly go away...also, read my response to this on the other thread here in the cargo section...something like "these people want to buy Airnet" or something to that nature. I'm not going to retype it all again here, just read it there.

Good to hear Airnet isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. I just put in my app today. Living entirely on the road with no set schedule is getting old.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not , but I read on here somewhere that the RIC run was gone (for AIRNET). Is that true? If not, how senior a run is it and would it be possible to bid as an SIC? I know I have the cart way in front of the horse; however, I was thinking of sending in a resume in the next few months and just trying to get a little intel. Thanks for your time and help.

Not sure if the run is still there. It is kind of irrelivent. All the SIC's are either out of LCK or BHM. There might be a few exceptions, but they try to keep them in citys that have a lot of different runs. RIC had only the one (could be wrong about that but I doubt it).
Also dont worry about sending a resume. If you have atleast 500hrs then fill out the online app, and follow up with a phone call a day or so later.
Good Luck!!

There are still two prop runs in Richmond. One guy is getting towards the middle to top as far as prop seniority, and the other one just got there a few months ago. There were three runs, but one closed at the end of last summer.

Also, SIC's are not only out of LCK and BHM. I had several SICs on my Indy run, and recently there have been SICs in Cincinatti, Nashville, Teterboro, Bradley, and St. Louis. Anywhere there is a high time Baron run, for the most part.

That's funny, I have been here for a year now and still haven't heard much regarding our position as a company. As said before, we would love to hear more from our "CEO" about some future plans. Communication goes a long way Biggelsworth.....
