I'm a furloughed XJer and I've come up on my year seniority during my furlough period. Can I vote on contracts now or does the fact that I'm furloughed not allow that?

After thinking about, I think if we get recalled we will then have our voting rights because our years of service is still based on our original hire date.

Could be wrong though.

If furloughed, I doubt you get voting rights even if you have over 1 year in but hey, here is a concept....why not call the ALPA office and ask them if you really want a good answer.

Thanks Splitbar
Hey, I did that...I find the answers you get on this board to be far more entertaining than the actual answer..I'll pass along the "official" answer once I get it..I'm hopin this will turn into a thread about backpacks, flight bag stickers, grammar, or spiked hair..LOL

You can't vote unless you're AC (Active). You aren't active if you're:

An Apprentice (1st year)
Furloughed
On Miltiary Leave for more than 90-days (consecutive)
Executive Inactive (management puke)

The rule-of-thumb: If you're not paying dues, you're not voting.

Furloughed XJer here also.

Just curious what everyone is planningfor the future, wait it out or find new employment elsewhere in the airline world.

Personally I can't wait anymore, so i'm looking for a new home.

Good Luck, Johnny

Yeah, i'm moving on... got one descent job offer and a better possibility in corporate, but more risky. Am currently weighing my options, but i'm done with XJ. Sad, huh?

I'm also just waiting it out for now. I figure if I don't get recalled by early summer it's not going to happen. This whole thing really sucks!

Myself and a couple other XJer's are now at QX. There is some growth here, albeit a little. It's a beautiful part of the country and about as stable as anything out there right now. The current contract is up for renewal here, so it'll be interesting to see how that shakes out. If you want more info, feel free to PM

see yaa

I am trying to start my own business. Not even worrying about a flying job right now. I will do my next phase in the Wings program one of these days soon. But otherwise, keeping on the ground for now.
I know many of my classmates have moved on to other places like Horizon, Air Wisconsin, Airnet, and at least one of the captains has left to Fed Ex.

Thanks for the updates. Its good to here people are finding bigger and better things... Hopefully it will work out for everyone at XJ. I had the pleasure to meet and fly with some great people.

I'm currently in the pool at Republic just waiting for the word ... and I'm gone.

I know the minute I sign a contract, XJ will be awarded the RFP. There has to be a reason (601 and 602) the 2 CRJ's are still flying.

If its a business that isn't related to aviation, I would say that is a wise choice.
