Hi All -

I'm a furloughed pilot from NW. We do not have longevity provisions for our furloughed pilots nor, it seems, does our MEC see this as a priority. I'm curious if furloughed pilots from other legacy carriers received pay longevity credit upon their recall. Thanks for any inputs

USair=no
ATA=no

outta sight, outta mind....

DL--Yes. Guys who are coming back now start at 5th or 6th year pay, and vacation time builds too.

Being furloughed sucks, but thats not too bad a consolation prize to come back to. No matter what company though, guys may never make up the lost income in the meantime.

AMR--No, but it was negotiated in a previous contract ('97, right?) for returning furloughees. It is also on the APA list of Section 6 openers for the current contract negotiations. Returning furloughees should keep a close eye on this one because in short order they'll comprise a substantially large portion of the voting block and this should be a very, very important issue to them. There is just enough precedent out there that we really should see all unions pushing for this.

Hawaiian=No, but it definitely would have been nice.

Great question. After the furloughs in the 90s quite a few pilot groups got something for their returning furlughees. Delta, American, and AWA all got full or partial credit for longevity. Some others that I can't remember did as well. USAirways did not, but we did keep accruing longevity for the pension. That would have been huge had the pension stayed intact.
