I have heard that the company would probably ask for an immediate release from mediation two or three times now. Even if they ask, the NMB does not automatically release both parties. Additionally, release and cooling off is VERY rare these days. Over the past six years the NMB has negotiated 550 TA's, and only 5 cases have ended in release and work stoppage (NWA, World, PHI, inc, Polar, and Comair). So from the NMB's own data, less than 1% of the parties in mediation get releases and then make it through the cooling off period and then execute some form of self help. In addition to that, I have NEVER heard of the company asking for release. I of course do not know of each and every case, but it would be the most ballsy roll of the dice by a management team that I doubt the shareholders/BOD would accept. Just my opinion.

I do not want to go to mediation, but I do agree with a lot of what openclimb has posted.
